Get Woke, Go Broke.
We have seen this happen many times yet many companies keep on repeating this very avoidable mistake. The latest feckless victim is Bad Bath & Beyond which went WOKE in 2021 by banning MyPillow from its stores and now is going BROKE with mass store shutdowns throughout North America. And it is Mike Lindell who is having the last laugh on BB&Y.
Exactly. Folks live in a bubble here and think everybody else cares about my pillow guy. He and his commercials are a running joke with that ginormous cross hanging out of his shirt, like a woman and the patriotic and religious symbolism surrounding him. It’s over the top and comes across as phoney.
Right, people are quick to say BBB is not going under because of booting Mike out but we can say it is definitely part of the reason. Alienating millions of customers is a pretty dumb move when you are barely profitable. Walmart just did it too but they are big enough to absorb any blowback
had nothing to do with those pillows.
On the way out long before that happened.
Freudian slip?
I've had a few bad baths and beyond in my day.
His business is thriving and growing.
Well pat yourself on the back. It wasn’t too long ago ya’ll were buying more pillows, sheets and slippers because he was destitute. Good to see he bounced back, for those that like his product.
Not true. He has a good product. The slippers are sueade, sturdy, comfortable
Pillows are good quality
Sheets are very good cotton. Lightweight. All natural fiber
I’m someone who buys for quality. Not charity. I have a home to manage.
“ I’d say 2/3s.”
I agree.
Shortly after Trump was elected the left came up with the mantra "Silence is Violence" and used it to accuse anyone trying to remain politically neutral of being a closet nazi sympathizer. Most famously, they targeted Taylor Swift who failed to publicly endorse Hillary Clinton in 2016. She quickly fell in line, embracing every liberal social justice cause out there.
Corporate America liked the idea so much, they developed "ESG scoring" as a tool to force companies to pay subservience to various leftist causes in order to secure investment.
It's why every company in America these days has a commitment to diversity and fighting climate change on their corporate website.
See: Havel's Greengrocer. You'd better hang that "Workers of the World Unite!" poster on your shop window or the Kommissar will think you're disloyal to the party.
Could have been part of a larger environment of bad decisions.
Pretty sure they would have this result no matter what. Over-priced homewares.
The majority of customers do not care about the tantrum of the day by the fraction of a percent. But they will care if you try to tell them they are not welcome in your store.
Which is what happened.
Just keep out of politics.
There is no up side.
Our my pillows were lumpy memory foam. I didn’t care for it. I haven’t tried sheets or slippers. My wife is partial to UGG or Bearpaw slippers. I prefer Egyptian cotton sheets. With anything, it boils down to preference.
Any business model that automatically alienates half your potential customer base is doomed to failure.
They are Egyptian cotton
Bearpaw slippers- had a pair I hated to get rid of. They were done. Bought new pie recently. $80. Could not walk in them. They fell of
Most companies improve or degrade in product quality. Some stay the same very few
His products are currently improving.
Thinking about a Go Woke! Go Broke! sign for my local BB@B.
Wokism is more of an incompetncy of management isssue, so that evan a small drop in sales is deadly. My pillow probably represented a 1 or 2 % drop in sales (swag) at a time that a 5% to 10 % increase was anticipated.
Well, if you did nothings else, (by posting this), it is evident that you brought-out some angry trolls!
