Trump to Hugh Hewitt on DeSantis: “He had nothing! He was dead, he was leaving the race, he came over and he begged me, begged me, for an endorsement. He was getting ready to drop out,”-- “There were tears coming down from his eyes...

Trump gave an interview on Thursday to Hugh Hewitt, who repeatedly asked him to spill on what disparaging nicknames he plans to use against those who compete with him in the 2024 Republican primary. When Hewitt floated Glenn Youngkin (R) as a possible bid, Trump referred to the Virginia Governor as a “disappointment,” complaining that he didn’t get enough gratitude from Youngkin or his team even though “I did a lot for him. And he got elected because of me, just like Ron DeSantis. Even more so.”

DeSantis is often considered Trump’s biggest potential primary threat, and the former president has been opening fire on the governor ever since the midterm elections. Trump often claims DeSantis would’ve never won his governors race without his endorsement, so as soon as Trump brought up DeSantis’ name, the floodgates opened for a full-scale attack.

“He had nothing! He was dead, he was leaving the race, he came over and he begged me, begged me, for an endorsement. He was getting ready to drop out,” Trump said. He then shared how DeSantis supposedly grovelled for his help in beating Adam Putnam in Florida’s Republican primary

"There were tears coming down from his eyes. He said ‘if you endorse me, I’ll win,’ said Trump. “So I end up doing it, and he wins. They say it was like a bomb went off. Just a bomb totally went off. From the moment I endorsed him, he went from losing by numbers that were not catchable to winning easily.”

This went on with Trump saying “everything collapsed” for Putnam from the moment he endorse DeSantis, and that “I got him past the crackhead [Andrew Gillam], who was the hottest person in the Democratic Party at the time.”

I don’t believe this BS for a second.

Tears coming down his eyes? And Trump is just now telling us this, after a few months of attacking DeSantis? Obviously he’s realized his previous attacks were only hurting himself, as will this new phony one.

And why would DeSantis even needed to ask for his endorsement in the first place?

It’s not like DeSantis wasn’t on FOX news almost every single night defending Trump from his latest scandal. Many articles were written that DeSantis was in the “inner circle” of Trump.

So tired of his girlish drama.
The insecurity gets tiring. The constant drama creation to keep the spotlight on him .

Putnam only has 25K followers on Twitter
Trump - 87 million

I don’t think Putnam ever had that much popularity as a gubernatorial candidate in the first place.

“ And his accomplishments included driving so many away with his personality that his slate of candidates either lost or grossly underperformed in virtually every battleground state in 2022”

His endorsements won 232 lost 17

I really wish DeSantis would have waited until 2028. He would have had support of the Trump supporters. I hate to see what's going on now.

Waited? What waited? Has he announced? No?

Look. All DeSantis has to do is wait for Trump to finish self destructing. And with his big mouth and bigger ego - that won't take long.

Then DeSantis will step into the role that Trump (and his mouth) left behind.

Very good point. Years ago we stood in line for 2 hours to see him in Hershey, PA. IT WAS 20 degrees. Won’t be doing that again…

Of course it’s true. DeSantis was losing the race and Gillum kicked his ass in the debates. Trump’s endorsement is the ONLY reason why DeSantis won. DeSantis is not a good speaker or campaigner. He’s also turning out to be a dirty rino. If he runs against Trump and somehow The GOPe figures out a way to cheat, I will not be voting in 2024.

Classic Trump -— no classless Trump -— I fixed it for you.

Did you vote for him in 2016?

How about in 2020?

He hasn't changed and his behavior, if anything has been much more muted of late in this regards, so what changed with you?

Could it be you are supporting DeSantis so your concern really isn't so much about Trump's behavior, but how it hurts your preferred candidate?

“I’m a conservative, NOT a Republican.”

Been saying that same thing for awhile now myself. Go-along-Republicans are just as much the problem as democrats, maybe moreso.

I voted for Trump twice, but will not do so again. His appeal has worn off. The sooner his supporters (and Trump himself) realizes this, the sooner we can find that same political/economic/etc. astuteness wrapped up in a more grace-gifted package.

Not going to happen.

And there are millions of Trump Supporters who came into the GOP Electorate, only because of Trump.

Millions of those Trump Supporters will not vote for DeSantis if he attempts to run in 2024, because, like Trump, they will , and do, view this as being Disloyal by DeSantis, and also, will view DeSantis as a Traitor to MAGA.

DeSantis should man-up, quit being a Politician, and start being a leader by declaring definitively that he is not running for POTUS 2024 and is supporting President Trump for POTUS 2024.

No, he doesn't. He can simply ignore it, and come off looking like the adult in the room.

It's a simple issue he should address. If DeSantis has a good response, why not say it?

If someone calls you you a fart smelling, booger eating poopy-head, are you going to respond? Are you going to take the bait and respond with "Your Mama"?

RDS should ignore the childish taunts.

There’s been plenty of other politicians and governors that have come out and endorsed Trump. Why can’t DeSantis?

Name one. Here. I’ll help you out.

“His endorsements won 232 lost 17”

His endorsements include a lot of certain wins. In battleground states - think Arizona, Ohio, Georgia and Pennsylvania - his major candidates either fell short OR grossly underperformed other Republicans.

He endorses DeSantis. Does anyone think DeSantis needed it? Florida probably is no longer a battleground state - BECAUSE OFF DESANTIS.

So no, his record of endorsements sucks Donkey dicks.
