The Boeing 737 and 777 came within 1,000 feet of a collision on the ground
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating an incident at John F. Kennedy International Airport that happened Friday night when a Boeing 777 taxied in front of a departing Boeing 737-900.
The 737 was operated by Delta Air Lines, the 777 by American Airlines.
According to the FAA, air traffic controllers “noticed another aircraft crossing the runway in front of the departing jetliner” and canceled the aircraft’s takeoff clearance.
The statement continues, “Delta Air Lines Flight 1943 stopped its takeoff roll approximately 1,000 feet before reaching the point where American Airlines Flight 106, a Boeing 777, had crossed from an adjacent taxiway.”

American was told to cross runway 31L at taxiway K but missed it and crossed at J in front of Delta which had to abort takeoff roll.
That happened once already and it was a nightmare scenario.

American was supposed to cross 31L but screwed up took wrong taxiway and crossed 4L in front of departing Delta.
Sounded like a birthing person pilot.
Had something similar happen on the way to Germany flying on Northwest.
In my case it was a major instrument failure that caused the abort. We stopped with just feet to spare before going into the water.
Now we know what happened to Beetle Bailey. He changed his name and ran for mayor of South Bend. We also know why the Sarge really didn’t like him. He kept gazing at his butt.
AA screwed up big time .

Fascinating event (though tragic) from beginning to end. As soon as KLM heard about the disaster, they wanted their most experienced pilot to lead their investigation team. ...Until they learned he was the offending pilot and killed in the collision of the two 747s.
But do you even have any information about the race or ethnicity of any person involved in this incident — from either the airline industry or the FAA?
I didn’t know that about KLM’s proposed investigator. This episode at JFK made me think of Tenerife. Glad no one was hurt. Shudder. Whoa.
I could give a rats ass about what race people are generally, are they QUALIFIED? Nothing good comes from lowering standards, look how well it served the public school system
