While natural gas prices are in “free fall” on the national market, California’s prices to customers are doubling and in some cases tripling to “shockingly high” levels at a time when people on the West Coast, Messed Coast™ use energy the most. Freezing out Californians in winter is part of the state’s energy plan. It is rationing by another name. Try to look surprised.
California’s biggest energy companies, among them SoCalGas, announced Friday that, due to a spike in prices, “January bills are likely to be shockingly high. … While we don’t set these prices (they’re set by regional and national markets), nor does SoCalGas actually profit from rising prices, we want our customers to know that we understand that this may be a shock and a hardship for some” [emphasis added].
San Diego Gas and Electric made a similar pitch.

The California idiots had their chance to recall the driver of their clown car leadership, Gruesome Newsome, and they couldn’t get it together to jettison that millstone, that architect of their demise. So I don’t have pity on them.
Xcel bill for Oct. 2022 payable in Nov. NG $1.80
Xcel bill for Dec. 2022 payable in Jan. 2023 NG $6.06
236.7% price increase in TWO MONTHS!!!
IF those price hikes had come in the Oct. bill, do you suppose it may have impacted the election results.....even in Colorado?
Someone has to pay for all of the drugs provided to exacerbate homelessness and the cultural destruction of the world’s 6th largest economy.
What about Global Warming, shouldn’t that be saving them from freezing??
My January PG&E bill was most definitely a shock.
50% increase over last year’s January bill.
California refuses to build a pipeline to Texas. So, they buy a lot of gas on the international market. And, they are the state still buying Middle Eastern imported oil.
That’s why California always pays more for energy.
They’ll find a way to blame Trump for it. California Democrats are truly a special brand of stupid. They’re paying $7 and up for a dozen eggs because they voted for Prop 12 which stated that egg laying hens must be cage free. Well millions of those hens have died as a result of an outbreak of avian flu so that translates into shortages everywhere in the state, and of course the higher prices. Yup, don’t pity those people. All of the senseless lefty policies they keep voting for are biting them all in the butt now!
They want to reduce reliance on fossil fuels & don’t have adequate reserve supplies.
“There are approximately 8-12 million mineral owners in the US. Over 80% of the drilling in this country is done on private land. That is why the “shale revolution” has taken place in this country and not all around the world.”
I have 2 small mineral rights, but I know people who have ranches with gas underneath and make as much as $50,000 a month! Their ranches look incredible these days, miles of beautiful white fencing and huge barns and extra homes for everyone in the family.
Lots of taxes for Uncle Sugar too.
There’s still no place like the good old USA, despite all the problems.
You’d think so. Over 40% of electricity generated in CA is from natural gas, though.
“IF those price hikes had come in the Oct. bill, do you suppose it may have impacted the election results.....even in Colorado?
No, it just makes people want to be more dependent on govt to save them. I hear it all the time. It’s similar to the “I’m so glad I got vaxxed thing.”
“I’m so glad I get $3,500 a month from the VA plus SSI payments!”
We’re talking about changing less than 10% of the vote, not 50%.
Heh, I hear you, but I don’t think it changes 1% of the vote.
Today’s liberals are rabid and immune to logic.
No...democrats don’t mind because it’s saving the planet.
You HAD a $2 natural gas bill and it went up to $6? How can you possibly afford $6?
Is your home the size of a shoebox?
Thanks to thr greaser in Sacramento.
Here’s my answer to those bitching about their predicament which is the result of your vote…”Told you so”
