You see Qatar's refusal to sell alcohol in stadiums as a disgrace, I see this refusal as another illustration of the clash of civilizations that pokes a finger in the eye of Western culture. This time it happens on the biggest stage of all.
Oooo football fans do like their booze.
There’s not enough alcohol in the world to get me to visit Qatar.
Or, a soccer match. Zzzzzzzz
Especially Germans and Brits..
The most enthusiastic are some Latinos who are naive and don’t rally know that culture and “democratic” Arab Apartheid (style of a) regime.
What’s worse than a drunk hooligan? A hooligan you’re denying to get drunk.
Which is why Fifa warns English fans...
There is a bribery scandal with Ecuador game.
BTW Atab Republic of Qatar is also very much an empire of racism and slavery.

Don’t like the rules, don’t go.
What a concept!
Apparently difficult for many to understand.
Qatar isn’t the French Quarter of New Orleans.
Yep, their country, their laws. I wouldn’t walk across the street to see a World Cup soccer game for free, and I wouldn’t go to Qatar at all. And if I did go there, if for instance someone would pay me a billion dollars or so for a three-day visit, I’d just white-knuckle it for the duration.
My family almost moved to Jeddah in the 70s when it was more westernized. We visited and had a book taken from our luggage before we got there. No fricking way I ever would have wanted to live there, even if we would have been on a compound with other Americans (where wine was home made). And, I had to wear a long dress or pants at all time in public.
At least we don’t have to worry about drunk fans turning into hoodlums like they do at home.
“ I wouldn’t walk across the street to see a World Cup soccer game for free”
You couldn’t pay me to watch one while lying in bed
Apparently, it is allowed in the luxury boxes.
I’m not much of a soccer fan. But, I have found that where beer was sold, at any other sporting event, that it was not a plus to the overall experience for me...
How is it poking the eye in Western civilization? It is in Qatar. If they’re going to hold an event there, then they can go by their local customs. I find a lot of other things they’re doing there much more disturbing.
