He couldn’t pass it despite a Sandy Hook-style shooting in Uvalde with a Democratic majority in the House and Senate, now he’s going to pretend he will do it in the latter half of his term with a GOP-controlled House and a Senate that still has a filibuster that Manchin and Sinema won’t abolish (and the Democrats failed to win enough Senate votes to stop that duo.) Why do they keep trying this at the Federal level? Ladies - sorry, birthing persons - insist this is a medical decision between them and their doctor. OK, fine. It is SETTLED LAW that medical concerns are the property of the States, not the Federal gubermint. It is NOT an Enumerated Power. Just look at how ObamaCare and any other medical issue is engrossed. Lots of twisty verbiage to make it a state decision - like the exchanges. And of questionable Constitutionality at that.
Now I know the answer to my original question. They want it Federal because they know there are some states that would outright ban abortion if they could.
Birthing People - you are wasting your time at the Federal level - deal with this in your state, like all other things medical.
Abortion is no longer a Federal issue. They could possibly try to coerce states by tying Medicaid funding or other medical funding to abortion, but that's all.
BTW, the pro-life protestors recently arrested under the FACE act are political prisoners, because without Roe, the Fed gov has no police powers over demonstrations near abortion clinics, so the FACE act is facially un-Constitutional.
