Flashback to March 16, 2020:

Trump issues ‘Coronavirus Guidelines’ for next 15 days to slow pandemic

15 days to flatten the curve...and here we are, two and a half years later, with the country town completely apart. It will take decades, if ever, for all the social, economic, and political damage to be repaired.

Yes, it is always a sin to MOCK, God. I saw the campaign ad.. President Trump was easy on the God created ‘fighter’.

Don’t fall for this FReepers. It’s a way to split the vote, and keep Trump out of office. I’m a Trump supporter, and I can see myself voting for DeSantis, but not until 2028.

DeSantis has become the better candidate for 2024.

Trump’s personal attack on DeSantis reopened fading perceptions that he is mean and full of ego. From now on, he needs to focus on ISSUES. He has many good ones.

He took the (deliberately false) advice of people he thought he could trust - a long-running theme for him, sadly.

Personnel choices were the Achilles heel of his administration, in my opinion.

*IF* somehow this is really all about positioning DeSantis and the leading pubbie for ‘24, then this was a good move on Trump’s part. Some part of me thinks Trump is doing ‘all this’ so he can remain as the leading tar baby for the Dems and media, giving them less time and attention for for DeSantis.

Flame if ya want to, but my ‘dream ticket’ right now for 2024 is DeSantis-Lake.

Your opinions are welcome to differ.

I agree. Trump can’t control his mouth. This was a huge unforced error. Trump was a great President, but he is a terrible judge of character. He hired an administration full of RINOs and traitors. Now he’s attacking his friends.

Not smart.

He had the right instincts that normalcy should have been restored by Easter. And he let it slip away.

Whoever the architect of 15 days is they need to never work again.

All speculation. I remain convinced that this is what happened:

Trump’s team sent an invitation to RDS to appear at the rally.

RDS not only declined, but did so in a “holier than thou” way. Don’t know exactly what, obviously, but SOMETHING triggered the word “desanctimonious.” Trump is highly selective about his nicknames.

RDS did NOT “open FL” immediately. Noem never closed SD, and Kemp opened Georgia much earlier than RDS did FL.

Sundance, at “The Last Refuge” has had DeSantis pegged for some time. He is being groomed by the elites and Bush/Cheney wing (He accepted a donation from Yeb, has never renounced any of Paul Ryan/Ru Paul’s comments about him being the future of the GOP, not Trump.) He HAS stumped for Kari Lake here in AZ, but while she was touting MAGA, he was not.

He’s a good governor. Until he shows differently, I hope that’s what he remains. Kari Lake is the post Trump future.

As for the “two weeks,” Trump never, ever argued for a mandatory vax. Consider that: he is the ONLY international leader not to do so. He is one of the VERY FEW American politicians at any level to do so, even when all the forces of Dr. Fallacy and Collins were aligned against him and veep Pence was betraying him by saying he needed to hand over authority to the states.

As a Federalist, that’s exactly what Trump did. HE didn’t lock down the country, but authorized the STATES to do so, and unfortunately almost all did. Let’s not rewrite the history of the China Virus.

The shot was a warning to the Deep State, saying Trump isn't going to let them get away with hijacking the non-RINO Republican efforts.

At worst, it's mutually assured destruction. Either way, the RINOs cannot be allowed to continue to actively facilitate the destruction of the United States. They helped steal the Election of 2020 and cannot be allowed to repeat that in 2024, even using DeSantis as their pawn.

I totally understand why Trump was so anxious to get the vaccines out there, he was trying to break the lockdowns and save the economy, which was his number one achievement.

But the vaccines are as much a disaster and as much a hoax as the rest of the pandemic (I hate that word…). Bragging about his role in getting them out there always makes me wince. For now it annoys Democrats who don’t want to give him credit, but as the truth about them emerges they will be happy to let him take all the blame.

I’m a huge fan of DeSantis. I’m also a fan of Trump. Trump needs to shut his mouth about the former because it will piss off a lot of people and it just makes him look petty, jealous, and mean. The fact that DeSantis wasn’t at his rally looks bad, imo.

I didn’t see Trump’s remark to be an “attack” on De Santis, just a jab. I believe that jab was precipitated by De Santis endorsing Joe O’Dea in the senate race in Colorado. O’Dea has gone on record stating that he will do everything he can to prevent Trump from getting the nomination in 2024. Then there was the rather cringy ad saying “God made Ron”. One of De Santis’ biggest donors also opposes Trump and has been working with McCarthy and probably McConnell to bring the gop back to the Bush Glory Days.

Trump should have left this for private discussion between himself and De Santis. In politics there is always disagreements, and this should be seen as just another disagreement between two big names in the same party.

My hope is that De Santis rejects all those who seem to be using him to block Trumpism and return to Bushism.

Trump’s attack was a mistake because he opened up an old wound that could be Trump’s Achilles’ Heel: his huge mistakes dealing with COVID. Mistakes that DeSantis saw early and rejected quickly.

The author is engaging in revisionist history here.

The only governor in the entire U.S. who didn't impose any lockdowns was Kristi Noem of South Dakota. Everyone else -- including DeSantis imposed variations of lockdowns, restrictions, etc.

I wouldn't necessarily blame any of those governors, but when DeSantis and his sycophants run around today acting like he was a champion of freedom and liberty during the COVID fiasco, they are full of sh!t.

DeSanctimonious. Lamest of all Trump’s bestowed monikers. If he was going to bother, he should’ve come up with a better one.

Trump was a great president. Just what we needed, but he needs to admit the vaccines are worthless and causing harm. Until he owns up to the fact that he was mislead and actually, wait for it........”made a mistake”, I’m not real happy with him.

It was not an attack.

It was a humorous nickname everyone knows about including DeSantis.

They support each other.

This is the media trying to make it so.

Folks, Trump is not going to change. Trump is Trump.

During this midterm campaign, no other Republican was travelling around the country like Trump was, having massive rallies for the GOP candidates for senate, house and governor.

We are in position to have massive gains due in large part to Trump's hard work.

During these rallies, Trump speaks for up to two hours and is always going off script. When you speak off the cuff like that, you are bound to occasionally misspeak or say things in the heat of the moment that you might wish to take back later - or have said in a different way.

Freepers should especially know this. How many of us have wish we could have taken back a post or reworded it before we hit the send button? We are not perfect either.

Anybody that knows Trump understands that. Most of us prefer the unfiltered Trump. He's not like your average politician, who reads carefully off the teleprompter the script written for him word-for-word and never goes off of it.

Many are trying to divide the Trump and DeSantis supporters and create a rift between them. I'm not falling for that. I hope DeSantis wins in a landslide tomorrow. I hope Trump announces his candidacy for 2024 and I will support him as well. When and if Trump ever decides not to run, I'll consider who to support for president at that time. Until then, I'm 100% for Trump if he runs for 2024. I will never support another Republican over him,.

Despite all the brouhaha over this, hasn’t Trump unequivocally endorsed DeSantis for governor of Florida?
