That said, if I was in a 1st class aisle seat, I would not change to a window on a long flight (senior bladder). However, I would change to another aisle seat to help (and have do so many times).
Part of me thinks the mother might have bought a cheaper ticket for her daughter, so she can save money by guilt tripping a higher paying passenger in sitting where her daughter was going to sit.
I would be willing to switch if the reason is medically related or if the airline was willing to refund me my difference and it wasn’t too long a flight.
I guess this sad family could have offered their first class seats to a family in coach, you know, if they REALLY wanted to sit together…
I’m astounded this is a thing now. Leave it to a liberal to try to get something for nothing.
I had a mom ask me to give up my isle seat in exchange for a middle seat so she could sit next to her kid. I told her no. I hate the middle seat. She rolled her eyes at me which validated my decision.
I’ve only flown first class one time in my life. There’s zero chance I would go to a lower class if I had paid for first class. Zero. I also wouldn’t move from business class to anywhere behind me. When I pay for a service, I want that service. Maybe that makes me selfish, but I work hard for my money, too.
If it were in exchange for an equivalent first class seat, I wouldn’t have any problem with it.
However, if I planned ahead and paid for first class and someone who did do either, wanted to be bumped up to first class for nothing, forget it.
I would see that as someone scamming to get a free upgrade at someone else’s expense.
Nope.
It’s unclear whether she was being asked to give up her first class seat because the other family was split between first class and coach, and she would end up in a coach seat.
If that were the case, then heck no I wouldn’t give up my seat in first class either.
But if it were just musical chairs within first class, I would probably accommodate the request. Just keep those free drinks coming...
I’ve switched seats a couple of times so that people could sit together. But I would *not* switch from a first or business class seat to a coach seat to accommodate that.
Wait was this 1st class to 1st class? Or 1st class to no class seating?
Why is this even a story? What kind of cretin would ask someone who PAID for a first class seat to sit in coach just so they could “sit together”. Its ridiculous.
If I paid for a first class seat, there’s practically no reason I would move to the cattle car section.
That being said, I’ve only traveled first or business class a handful of times.
Hold On! A Seat Just Became Available.
This is 100% true and accurate.
If she was traveling without her kids, it was probably like a vacation in itself!
Good Lord. Nicole Pomarico is probably single.
There was a blonde woman flying coach from LA to Ohio. She was sitting in a seat that had visual access to first class and she spotted an empty seat so, she got up and moved into First Class. Once she was settled a stewardess came by and leaned over and told her that she could not sit there and to go back to her own seat in coach. The blonde said ‘I will not move back to my seat. This seat was empty and I’m going to sit in it until we get to Ohio.’ The stewardess went up to the cockpit and told the Captain and Co-pilot about the situation and the Co-pilot told her he would take care of it so, he went back to the blonde and leaned over and told her she would have to move back to her seat in coach; she did not pay for a First Class seat and therefore cannot stay in First Class to which the blonde replied, ‘I will not move back to my seat. This seat was empty and I’m going to sit in it until we get to Ohio.’ Frustrated, the co-pilot went back to the cockpit and told the Captain and Stewardess what had happened. At that point the Captain said, I’ll talk to her and they watched the Captain go back to the blonde, lean in and speak to her at which point, the blonde got up, grabbed her things and went back to her seat in coach. Amazed, the co-pilot and stewardess asked the Captain how he got her to move?!! He told them that he told her, that First Class was not going to Ohio. :)
Liberals once again trying to take things that are not theirs.
The solution is is easy. Tell the lady that she can easily sit next to her daughter if she gives up her first class seat and sits next to her daughter and the cheap seats
On a flight from San Diego to Seattle, when I got to the aisle seat I had reserved months before a burly man was sitting in it. I said nothing, but turned around and found a stewardess (they were stewardesses then) and let her know.
We went to the guy, she checked our boarding passes, and told the guy he had to move to his assigned seat — the middle seat. He refused. Things got nasty, but he did move over.
Then he did major “man spreading”, and put his knees halfway over into my space, and kept elbowing me. A guy across the aisle noticed it and called the stewardess again. When she got there, he made a definite threat to her.
She went forward and came back with the Captain or Co-pilot. (We still were on the ground.) He told the guy he had choices. He could get off before takeoff. He could behave the rest of the trip. Or he could stay on board and not behave. If not, he’d be handcuffed to the seat and turned over to the police in Seattle. I didn’t know they had handcuffs on board but I guess they do.
I suppose he behaved. The stewardess moved me to an empty aisle seat in the front for the trip.
The displaced family members can just cry into a tissue until the flight is over and see each other after the flight. Not my problem.
Why doesnt the first class seated family member go back to coach ???
Offer his seat to the coach passenger sitting next to the other family member ???
They didnt pay for the second first-class seat ...
She did ...
Bad planning or cheap Why should someone else suffer ???
