As the title suggests, something's been bothering me about the photo of "classified documents" released by the DOJ in their response filing for the special master request by Trump's legal team.
The cover sheets are all wrong.
I've had access to Top Secret/SCI material for over 40 years, working with it on a daily basis. I have never seen cover sheets with a solid color border that say "SECRET/SCI" or "TOP SECRET/SCI." Those would be OK if they were just SECRET or TOP SECRET collateral information (not sensitive compartmented information - SCI). The cover sheets for SCI documents have striped borders in the respective colors, and have the compartment listed on the cover sheet - not just "SCI."
The reason for this distinction is that the two categories need to be clearly distinguishable. Those look like regular (collateral) classified coversheets. If the "SECRET/SCI" cover sheets shown in the photo actually were used, they could easily be inadvertently mixed with the collateral coversheets, because they look so much alike.
SCI cover sheets need to be readily identifiable, so they are handled in their appropriate compartment, and not intermingled with collateral classified information.
Those look like standard coversheets with the "SCI" moniker added by someone who doesn't know the difference, or the importance of the difference - either on NARA's side, the DOJ/FBI side, or the TRUMP side.
Someone help me out on this - I could be wrong, but I'm losing sleep, and just don't get it. Nothing else in the photo indicates classification, so the photo is not probative, and certainly not prejudicial as I see it.
That's where the Ukies learned it...
The “bad guys” are in the Whitehouse.
The bad guys are in a lot of places, both foreign and domestic.
That does not negate my answers.
We need him NOW.
It appears those cover sheets are internal to the FBI and they added them. I have never seen those either. Top secret is always Red and Confidential is Yellow. FBI staged photo shoot whence they added their own cover sheets.
It doesn’t justify the Fed government classifying anything and everything they don’t want us to see either. We’re supposed to be the oversight for what goes on in this country. You know that whole “consent” thing.
Is it your experience that these cover sheets are attached with paper clips or are they stapled several times to the main documents?
Could it be that the FBI brought a stack of these cover sheets and simply clipped them to whatever documents they found to give the appearance of a cache of top secret documents?
Otherwise, why the paper clips and not permanent staples unless they didn't want any documents that were returned to President Trump to have alterations like staple holes in them?

Cover sheets are utilitarian, they can be downloaded from the Internet. There are variations in the details of the border and coloration from one version to another, no biggie. The main thing is the text must clearly indicate the classification of the contents.
It's called entrapment, which is also a violation of the oath of office that agents take when first federally employed.
Criminal actions, such as tampering with evidence, and collusion with others should be grounds for immediate employment termination and loss of pension
If Trump declassified it’s irrelevant what the folder says but materials should be stped as such.
Classification is supposed to protect things the revelation of which would cause harm to national security. Using classification to cover up misconduct, abuse, waste, fraud, stupidity, crime, corruption, political machinations, and the like is a direct violation of the federal laws that create classification in the first place. I suspect that the Harris/Biden regime is guilty of violating those laws frequently, extensively, and egregiously.
It certainly is fishy.
And I only see cover sheets in the photo, but they are not attached to documents. This looks like a stockpile of covers that may or may not be attached to a document at some later point.
When I worked with classified documents, the documents had a cover with “Secret” markings on them so you could walk around in the hallways with them and mix with others who were not working on classified programs. The cover was to hide the actual Secret document from being read casually and as a reminder to the person carrying it not to just set it down somewhere and walk away.
You could not “lock” them in your desk drawer and go out into the hallway. Either you had them at your desk, carried them with you, or locked them in the safe. No exceptions that I can remember.
The mere existence of the photograph raises a lot of questions. I doubt it is considered acceptable to make photographs of highly classified documents and then just walk out with the camera and the now highly classified images stored in the camera.
Just operating a non Tempest certified camera is going to potentially leak information about the image contents. And every system that the image resides on is a potential security risk.
How exactly would an image of a highly classified document at the SCI level even be processed to redact parts of it, copied from the camera to another computer, and so on.
I really doubt some random FBI camera operator has access to the kind of resources that would ordinarily seem to be required for taking and handling digital images of what are supposedly highly classified documents.
The Donald would have Persian carpets that can fly!!!
Yup, not only them, it seems to be endemic in the political culture now.
Aw shut the hell up.
Indeed. We know Hildebeeste was also involved in egregious violation of rules regarding classified information.
All of this mess is greatly distressing to the military, civilians, and contractors who deal with this stuff daily, and take great care to do it properly.
I too held a TS clearance with SCI throughout my military career in Command & Control/Two Person Emergency Actions teams for all aspects dealing with nuclear weapons and it looks funny to me too. For one thing SCI is to be view only by specific individuals listed by name on an SCI billet and if those guys truly believe they were not declassified then I am sure not one person on the Storm Trooper team that raided Trumps home are on that list. It would be a serious security violation for them to even just have unrestricted access to the documents, much less lay them out on the floor to take pictures of them. The proper action if the really believed they were still classified would have be to secure the area, let no one in, and contact the information security office responsible for control of the President’s SCI documents. I doubt they did that, in fact I bet every Tom, Dick, and Harry was allowed to look at them. I bet Hillary and Biden both have copies by now.
