'American Idiot' Singer, "Green Day" Frontman Billy Joe Armstrong Renounces Citizenship Over Abortion Ruling, Accidentally Makes Larger Point
Red State ^ | 06/27/2022 | Sister Toldjah

As recent history has shown us, when leftists don’t get their way, absolute foolishness inevitably ensues. Not surprisingly, that’s exactly what happened in the aftermath of the Friday Supreme Court ruling where a majority of Justices agreed that Roe v. Wade must be overturned.

You had radical left-wing pro-abortion groups threatening violence in the streets – and carrying through in some instances. Democratic members of Congress like Reps. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) urged their supporters to get “into the streets” and “fight” in “defiance” of the ruling, using inflammatory rhetoric we’ve been assured over the last 18 months or so was designed to deliberately “incite” political extremists to commit violence.

And then there have been the unhinged celebrity responses, as predictable as they usually are, including the one from actor Samuel L. Jackson, who stupidly and ignorantly tweeted “How’s Uncle Clarence feeling about Overturning Loving v Virginia??!!” – apparently not realizing that SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife Ginni is white.

Another celebrity who made headlines over the weekend for their sizzling hot take on Roe v. Wade being overruled was “Green Day” frontman and California native Billy Joe Armstrong, who told a London crowd during a Friday performance that he was renouncing his American citizenship in an expletive-filled rant where he trashed America:

“F— America, I’m f—ing renouncing my citizenship,” the “American Idiot” singer told the crowd. “I’m f—ing coming here.”

“There’s just too much f—ing stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f—ing excuse for a country,” Armstrong added. “Oh, I’m not kidding. You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.”

Armstrong continued berating the U.S. during his band’s show in Huddersfield, England the following day, saying “f— the Supreme Court of America” and calling its justices “pricks,” according to the Daily Mail.

While it’s no big shock that Armstrong would take a hard left position on this issue considering he’s no stranger to using his music to take political positions, he unintentionally made a larger point that needs amplifying.

When celebrities threaten to leave this country over politics, I’m of two mindsets, with the first one being “good riddance.” Reason being is not simply because I disagree with them politically, but over the fact that these people apparently care so little for their country that instead of staying and fighting for it based on their warped “principles” they’d rather just cut and run until the going “gets better” for them (or a Democrat president wins in the next election or the “right” judge gets confirmed to our nation’s highest court).

It’s a free country, of course, and people are allowed to leave it if they don’t like what’s happening, but it’s always struck me as cowardly in the extreme when people declare they hate it and that they are leaving when they don’t get their way. Why not stay and make your case and try to win hearts and minds over to your side? The only reason I can come up with for these people is that they never loved their country that much to begin with. And if that’s the case with Armstrong, I say don’t let the door hit ya on the way out and oh, need help packing your bags, mate?

The especially comical thing about Armstrong announcing he’s gonna reside across the pond for a while because of the abortion issue being pushed back to the states is this:

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong says he’s renouncing citizenship and moving to the UK over the repeal of Roe V Wade. Someone should probably tell him Europe has much stricter abortion limits than the U.S. does. Actually, on second thought …

— Jimmy Failla (@jimmyfailla) June 26, 2022

Imagine that. The singer of “American Idiot” not knowing that the country he’ll hang his hat in for the foreseeable future is more restrictive on abortion than the one in which he was born. Just another example of life imitating art, but not in a good way for Armstrong, bless his heart.

With a Republican congress and White House, the process to *irrevocably* surrender your US citizenship and take citizenship in another nation that offers it to you should be streamlined.

Right now, the process takes at least three years, costs a lot of money, and requires a LOT of paperwork and LOTS of reviews and approvals. In truth it should only take a month, mostly the search for outstanding warrants and liens, and include postal forwarding. Once you have a letter of approval, you leave the US and turn in your passport at a US embassy, after presenting proof of foreign citizenship, and you are done.

It should be so easy that small businesses should exist that for a fee, will guide you through the process.

I am a patriotic and regular customer at 924 Gilman Street, a music pub in Berkeley, and I reject Greenday, Mr. Armstrong and all failures who hate America.

Grampa Green Day, how old is he now? Is his music still fresh? Will he renounce his renouncement after he realizes the repurcussions? Why do all the lefties have these demonic juvenile “f*** this and f*** you” responses?
And it is so obvious why these lefty men love abortion-lets them off the hook for support.

Ponder that thought, progressive b****es...

I believe he is 50 now. They had some good songs back in the day, IMHO, bit not much new music that I am aware of.

The thing that I don’t think anybody has realized is... The dude was in Glastonbury, England when he said this. All we really have to do is revoke his passport and he can never come back home. He was overseas when he made this statement.
