INSANE: NYT Essay Praised Sky-High Inflation Because It’ll Make Our Diets Climate-Conscious
NewsBusters ^ | 6/9/2022 | Joseph Vazquez

The New York Times had the gall to publish an essay that tried to paint skyrocketing consumer prices as a good thing because it will make Americans’ diets more eco-friendly.

Journalist Annaliese Griffin praised in a June 2 write-up for The Times how “Inflation has the potential to drive welcome change for the planet if Americans think differently about the way they eat.” Griffin spun the skyrocketing prices of meat, poultry, fish and eggs as a positive because they’re allegedly pushing Americans into vegan and vegetarian diets. While ironically admitting that “hunger and food insecurity are a very real problem in the United States and globally,” she still spun that “middle- and upper-class Americans still have more choices at the grocery store than perhaps any food shoppers in history.” This is what happens when the left attempts a hot take: babbling nonsense.

I was switching channels in the car a few days ago, and happened to catch a bit of a conversation between an NPR host and a “climate change expert” guest.

They were both laughing about how “We need to destroy the economy in order to save the planet.”

I kid you not. They were laughing.

Just think how climate-conscious our diets will be after they herd legacy US citizens into the death camps!

“They were both laughing about how “We need to destroy the economy in order to save the planet.”

Like those at the top of the pyramid, throughout human history, they do not expect to suffer any negative consequences of their actions and they have zero empathy for what they do to the masses.

A Couple of years ago, blood letting was considered a valid medical treatment for certain illnesses. One could make a case that if there was a massive bloodletting on the earth, Mother Gaia might be saved (in fact, that is exactly what the green socialists want).

It would be a great solace to all if the author Anneliese Griffin never ever procreates.

They have been saying this for years. We make the mistake of either not listening to them or not taking them seriously. We have made that mistake at our peril, and the peril is nigh at hand.

They have been saying the same thing for decades about deliberately driving energy costs up as well to suppress oil drilling and consumption.

We only hear it when it escapes the lips of one of them and makes it into the world, which is often enough.

In their cocktail parties in the Hamptons, at sleepovers in Martha’s Vineyard, and receptions at things like the WEF, you can be assured these types of conversations are common and animated.

It is for our own good, after all.

25 or 30 years ago, many of journalists sympathized with the public (e.g. Mike Royko), because they had middle-class salaries like most of the public. Somewhere along the way, there was the rise of overpaid “celebrity” newscasters and newspaper journalists (e.g. NYTimes Paul Krugman). These people, with their multi-million dollar contracts are both out of touch with the public, and worse, contemptuous of the public.

Absolutely true.

To these MSM elitists, “saving the planet” is worth putting millions of Americans into abject poverty, scrounging for any food they can afford, and freezing in the winter, unable to heat their homes.

I suppose we could all start eating lawn clippings and twigs, and supplementing our diet with bugs and earthworms. Somehow, I do not think that takes the place of a Big Mac or ice cream.

On Dec 16, 1979, the NYSlimes published an oped, by John M. Leej, "The Frustrating 70's: America Learns to Live with Less".

Leej claimed that inflation was more a problem of "psychology" than economic reality. And, besides, it's a good thing:
High energy prices are forcing more efficient use of supplies, and slower population growth means less demand for the resources of a slowing economy."
Here we are, four decades later, getting the same crap, same rationalizing away of irresponsible governance, same "it's for your own good" fascist mentality.

The 1200 yr thing is based on tree ring analysis from roof timbers at Chaco Canyon and really only applies to the Four Corners area, if such analysis is valid at all.
