Not sure which artillery was used. But M777 outguns the RuZZians.

“US and Canada’s m777 artillery currently on the front line and how it outguns the Russians. Yellow is the M795E1 rounds currently being used and red are the max ranges of Russian arty.”

That’s ok. OUR $40 billion will replace much of Ukraine’s stuff even if it ends up leaving us short on defense.

We are going to be just fine. RuZZia is being greatly weakened.

**Fuller explanation of Orc military structure:
The RGF once used the Army with many Divisions. But that was during WWII and the cold war. Since there were no more major wars, the RGF downsized its unit division from Division to Battalion. However since 2012 or so they have begun to convert back to Division.

Now there is a mix of unit designations Division and Battalion.

None of the smaller divisions are even close to Western unit make up (totally forget the “BTG” terminology - a Western construct).
For instance: there are 2 kinds of Mechanized Infantry Brigades, each with a different, but similar, make up. Call them Type A and Type B.

Type A has 2 tank battalions (~60 T-72 tanks), 2 Infantry battalions, Engineer battalion, Recon battalion, 2 self propelled arty battalions (could be up to 3 battalions), MLRS (Grad) battalion, AA battalion, Comm battalion, UAV battalion (Orlon-10), Sniper battalion, and Support battalion. Self-sufficient.

Type B has 3 infantry battalions (mixed as A& B below), 1 Tank battalion.

Infantry battalions in each Brigade are of two types, call them A & B.
A has ~540 troops, 49 BTR-82s, 8 120MM Mortars, 6 AGS-17s, 15 AT missile. 3 SPG-9s. 3 companies of about 109-110 troops.
Fighting force about 300 troops.

B has ~460 troops, 42 - BMP-2s, 8 120mm mortars, 6 AGS-17s, 15 AT missiles, 3 SPG-9s. 3 companies of 91 troops.
Fighting force about 270 troops.

Troops on the frontline are never more than half, but more like 40%

——————————————————————————————————————
**Artillery (key to success in this war)
Regular Artillery & Artillery Dispersion: The further you go past 7km, the greater the dispersion: the distance between where the target actually is and where the shell may hit.

Regular Artillery: Shelling over 10km is almost useless because of dispersion which might start at 95m at 15km, increasing form there. Shells cost ~$100-200.

Massed tubes is how the WWII was fought on the Eastern front by the Soviets: have 100-400 tubes per kilometer of the front. Soviets relied on quantity, not quality to basically obliterate everything, including the actual target.

This is how artillery works; this holds true for both sides with artillery.

Newer Artillery shells have GPS guided fins that help guide the shell to a more precise point, ie: lowers dispersion drastically and keeps it the same over the range of the piece. Dispersion will be 50m out to furthest range of the piece. Shells cost~$5,000.

Even newer shells are GPS guided with fins and rocket assist, having a still lower dispersion, and go further. Dispersion will be 10m out to 40km. Shells cost~$70,000.

At start of war the UA, shell costs were zero, as they had stockpiles left over from Soviet times. For the RGF, their costs are also zero for the same reason, but they have enough for this war times 4. This heavily incentives the orcs to rely on quantity verses quality. RGF has some test examples of the new shells, but they have too many of the regular, so they just obliterate.

The UA is getting the fin guided shells which makes life difficult for Orc batteries in counter-fire.
When the UA gets armored 155mm self-propelled artillery: US M-109s, the UKs AS-90s, and German’s PzH-2000s life will get very difficult.

Regular Artillery Shells: they tend not to target beyond 5-7km when dispersion is smaller. To correct this the Orcs use Orlan-10 drones, an integrated part of every Mechanized Brigade, to spot rounds. Orlan-10 components are sections and they cannot build more (had ~3000 at start). Orlan-10s make regular shells more efficient at 7km or less: may only take 3 rounds to hit the target.

This ability with drones and unlimited stocks of shells makes the orc artillery very, very deadly at less that 7km - as the UA has experienced with its huge losses to artillery fire, accounting for the majority of UA troop deaths.

Orlan-10 uses 4-stroke gasoline engine, has both optical and infrared cameras. Good at recognizing tanks, but not so good at troops. Stays up 16hrs, goes 12km. Low observable, composite materials. Embedded in specific Mech. battery, makeing them very reliable over UA artillery

UA drone is not so good - almost nothing - have only 25 stand alone and can be taken away from artillery. Tech specs worse - uses electric power to cover 100km and batteries lose power fast in cold weather.

Almost nothing on UA side for drones; saving grace was civilian using their personal drones to spot. But those drones an only go 1-5km. Because they had to be so close to orcs, many of civilians were seen by orcs and killed (after the video or picture was taken). It is always what is NOT shown that is important in understanding the true situation. Still heavily short range commercial drones.

Coming soon US counter battery units which will replace or mitigate Orc advantages in Artillery fire.

**WWI style fighting were nothing much happens: the front stays static, but a lot of people die.

**What Russia is doing with captured territory
Kherson & Zaporizhya regions in the south:
Importance:
Creates land bridge to Russia;
Protects fresh water to Crimea.

Actions:
Switch to Ruble, Russian laws, Car plates changed to Crimea, education to Russian language and subjects to Russian history and indoctrination so kids feel part of Russia. Make Area integral part of Russia.
——————————————————————————————————————
Summary:
Key areas:
- Izyum bridgehead: no expansion today.

- Russian troops are slowly mopping up corner between Oskil and Siverskiy Donets rivers controlled by Ukrainian side before. No changes today or yesterday.

- Zaporizhya frontline: no changes today.

- Ukrainian army has lost control over Popasna

- Russian troops are squeezing line around Severodonetsk and attempting to establish bridgeheads near Bilogorivka and Pryvillya. Russian side has established bridgehead near Bilogorivka, but the pontoon bridge was destroyed by Ukrainian artillery which led to a loss of the bridgehead. It appears that finally Ukrainian troops destroyed small Russian unit in the village of Bilogorivka.

——————————————————————————————————————
(Some of the items below may be out of date, and not updated yet)
1. Kharkiv: Ukrainian troops are slowly pushing Russian side out - they captured village of Ternova and reestablished Ukrainian state boundary there. Russian is withdrawing its battle-worn troops from here to Russian territory.
**Russian buffer being destroyed slowly, now cut into two pieces. Remaining piece is close to Belograd. Every time Orcs 3rd rate troops retreat and the UA takes another town, Ukraine propaganda portrays it as a great victory. But the town is empty.

**Media soaks up propaganda, broadcasting it as happening, while, in fact, it is not; like the media did when the Orcs pulled out of the Kyiv area to behind the Orc border in 36 hours. The media continued for a week cheering every time the UA entered an empty town, claiming a great victory. Same story at Kharkiv now.

**RGF realized troops were being attritted and withdrew regular army troops replacing them with mostly useless forced conscripts.

**Russia, at some point, will have to go full mobilization, withdraw or use nukes - situation will change more quickly with introduction of western heavy weapons - the better the weapon, the quicker comes the Russian decision.

Donbas salient:
2. Izyum bridgehead: No major Russian progress today. It is extremely dangerous penetration by Russian troops that potentially could lead to large pocket for Ukrainian troops west of Donetsk.

3. Lyman bridgehead. No changes today.

Severodonetsk salient most active and dangerous:
4. Popasna, Rubizhne and Severodonetsk. Russian troops captured all of Rubizhne. Russian mercenaries - Wagner Group operates in Popasna, also Russian 57 brigade operates there as well. Confirmed capture of Popasna by Russian troops.

**Tip of Donbas salient iceberg.
Pontoon bridge may have been destroyed by M-777s
**Another reports says: UA “2S1,122-millimeter howitzers that apparently got first crack at the Russian bridge”.
Orcs tried again to rebuild bridge, but was destroyed again; orcs on south side mopped up.
**Orcs tried in several places to east and south to push into salient - UA using small side roads to resupply.
**Australian Bushmasters being used by UA in Popasna area.
**UA 17thTB tasked with tanking out pontoon bridge and Orc troops.

5. West of Donetsk: Avidyivka and Maryinka. Avdiyivaka - never ending attempts of the Russian side to break-through there. No frontline changes today.

6. Vugledar is in Ukrainian hands.

7. Velyka Novosilka - Gulyapole stretch of frontline. Ukrainian strongholds are towns of Gulyaypole and village of Velyka Novosilka. Russian 19D is operating there. Russian troops are consolidating their gains. Also, 42D has been spotted in the area. Russian troops captured village Vremivka attached to Velyka Novosilka from west and separate by small river. The most northern group of Russian troops has been stopped before village of Vilne Pole. Ukranian side brought its 128 brigade and regiment Azov Kyiv to stop Russian advance there. No Russian progress here today.
** Zaporizhya is a big industrial center and of increased importance with the loss of Mariupol.

8. Mariupol: opportunity to do a breakout attempt by the Ukrainian forces might have been lost as density of Russian troops increased due to smaller perimeter. Based on other sources, opportunity to break out is still viable.

9. Mykolayiv: No major changes.

Wiki:
extended standard shell:
When fired from the M198 155mm towed howitzer (39 caliber tube) with the M203A1 propelling charge, the maximum range would be between 26.5 km (threshold) {16.46miles} and 28.5 km (objective) {17.70 miles}. Same for M-777. Longest observed shot from a M777 was 22 miles

The maximum range when fired from a Crusader type system (52 caliber tube) would be 34 km (threshold) {21.12 miles} to 36 km (objective) {22.36 miles}. Extending the range of the M795 HE projectile provides the ability to engage at an even greater distances and provides for a munitions which is compatible with current and developmental delivery systems and their associated propellants.

These extended standard shells (XM982 Excalibur GPS-guided munition) cost ~US$5,000 each. Finned and GPS guided, with a dispersion, across its entire range, of 10 meters, circular error probable of 5 m (16 ft).

2S35 Koalitsiya-SV 152mm self-propelled howitzer, range 30 - 70km. This may not be on the field yet and is so new that its production may be held up by sanctioned parts. Range of fire with standard projectile is around 30km (18.64 miles) and around 40km (24.85 miles) with rocket-assisted projectile, if were any made.

I’m not trying to be snarky. But I’ve tried to get a read on how many Javelins and/or other anti-tank weapons have gone to the Ukes. The answer “appears” to be well over 5,000.

That to destroy 664 tanks? So do Javelins not work? Do Ukes not know how to use them? One source answered that they had huge delivery problems (i.e., incomplete) and that Ukes were not trained to use them. But at this rate, the Russkies can make tanks faster than all the west can make Javelins. And not ALL those tanks listed were taken out by Javelins-—many by other weapons.

“Go right ahead. So why are you still in TEXAS, Speedy?”

For the same reasons why you’re in the U.S. too.

Seriously, why be hypocritical? Are you in Ukraine fighting alongside the Russians?

What’s that? No, you say? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
