Appearing on Jonathan Capehart's MSNBC show on Sunday, Rob "Meathead" Reiner said that our country's democracy is "hanging by a thread," at that if Biden AG Merrick Garland doesn't indict Donald Trump, it's "the end of democracy."
Capehart opened the conversation by citing Reiner's recent tweet, wherein he apocalyptically asserted: "Every day that goes by without Donald Trump being indicted for leading a deadly insurrection to overthrow the United States government takes us one day closer to ending our democracy."

[T]he longest democracy in – in the world, and it’s hanging by a thread! And if we lose it, we lose the ability to affect climate change, health care, education, economics. All of those things are taken off the table....So, the first thing we have to do is protect the democracy, then we can talk about all of the accomplishments, and the things we are trying to accomplish in the future.”
In other words, liberals aren’t particularly concerned about the loss of democracy and the freedoms that Americans enjoy under the Constitution.
What liberals are truly worried about is their possible loss of power! Their power to impose their vision, and to control virtually every aspect of the lives of Americans, from climate policy, to education, to the economy, and beyond.
I do miss Archie Bunker. Yes, I do.

Part of Garland’s problem....along with most all Attorney Generals of the past forty years....they rely a great deal on sworn statements made during an investigation, and then later go after the ‘victim’ for false statements...getting to admit some minor guilt for the false statement, and convicting them of a felony at that point (paperwork justice, more or less).
Trump’s lawyers have cornered every single attempt at sworn statements, and avoided them. The quality of prosecutors then leads into a circle....they aren’t capable of handling real cases, and these paperwork drills go nowhere if you can’t convict on false statements.
What Rob Reiner calls ‘democracy’ is actually a gulag system where you’re guilty until proven innocent if you don’t support communism.

What really pisses off Reiner is that we don’t live in a democracy with mob rule.
Presumably we live in a republic, with the rule of law, where a mob can’t just string up its political enemies.
Yet.
Liberal definition of democracy — “I know what the people want! I know what the people deserve! I intend to give it to them — good and hard! If I don’t have the power to do what I want, then democracy is threatened! I need the power!”
Oh trust me Rob, it’s not from lack of trying, if they had enough evidence to make even a weak case against Trump, believe me they would indict him in a second. The problem (for them) is they simply do not. You see, believing you won an election and got cheated out of it isn’t a crime. Neither is telling other people what you believe, and neither is asking officials to investigate voter fraud. Basically that is all Trump did.
We had a Republic, meathead.
At this point, we have a fascist oligarchy in power.

Whenever I see the name “Rob Reiner” in a news title, I keep hoping it will be about Mexican drug cartels kidnapping him and offering to release him for a dollar (but there are no takers).
Rob, you are intellectually vapid, as are all of your fellow ‘meatheads’ who think Karl Marx was a good and brilliant man. If Marx weren’t nominally Jewish (although he didn’t identify as such) I doubt as many of the self-appointed ‘elites’ would be supporters. That’s just my take. The reality is that he was a narcissistic parasite with issues who resented his father and who treated his wife horribly. And, his ‘philosophy’ / ‘economic system’ is utterly stupid - though dangerous (his ignorant observations and proclamations have, in no small measure, contributed to the deaths of millions).
You should continue to do comedy, as that is what you are good at. Please stop trying to push your views on the rest of us. You aren’t special and you aren’t qualified.

That’s what struck me in watching the interview. His vocabulary, sentence construction, train of thought, were all mediocre at best. He is passionate about his views, but he just isn’t very smart.
There’s no real reason to give him a platform, other than his fading celebrity. I’m sure few viewers under the age of 50 would have any real idea who he is.
I just can’t get over libs reaction to the protest of Jan 6. It was nothing compared to the BLM riots, and if BLM had done it, they’d be putting up statues in their honor.
