Hunter Biden infamous ‘laptop from Hell’ contains many U.S. Department of Defense ‘root encryption certificates’, or encryption keys to DoD databases. The keys have unusual long-term expiration dates, with many lasting twenty years or more.
This information was discovered during a deep forensic investigation done over the last couple weeks, by Jack Maxey and his team in Switzerland.
This situation raises multiple questions, such as…
Why did Hunter Biden have a large number of Department of Defense encryption codes to allow access to national security data?
Did Hunter Biden give anyone else access to this information?
Who gave the codes to Hunter Biden?
Why do the codes have long-term expiration dates, when the usual practice is to provide a user access only during his ‘need to know’, or time in the job, which is usually 2-3 years at most?

Which means any foreign actor with remote access to the laptop could likely gain access to those same keys and DoD DBs. With Hunter being Hunter, you can bet he would click on every pieces of spam coming into the machine.

I’ll add my two cents - I actually know a little about this.
While these certs could have been installed specifically, they may also have been put there when the laptop was imaged.
We don’t know the details, but let’s say this laptop came from the DoD originally. The operating system and apps are installed together, along with all the certs typically needed in that department. Not saying he didn’t log into DoD DBs, but just having the certs without a password...
Oh, they have his password too? We’re screwed.
Hmmm. The FBI considers parents terrorists but lets this clown go unpunished. You don’t suppose his Dad has something to do with it, do you?
Without seeing more, I’m not buying this as a big part of the scandal, which is already something that should be huge and doesn’t need additional stuff sprinkled in that could be misinformation or misinterpreted information.
Why would he have government certificates on his laptop? Well for one, he was at one time a secret service protectee. Do protectees have some sort of secure checkin or travel scheduling system? I don’t know, but it would be a reason for those certificates to be there. Whether or not that was legitimate use of government resources is something else entirely, but it happened. He also had regular access to government facilities because his dad was VP and he wod visit him. Again, if that’s right or not isn’t the thing, it’s that there’s a reason and trying to make a legitimate reason I to a conspiracy is just dumb. Finally, his dead brother (whose widow he was nailing at one point) was in the military. Was he helping the widow out with accessing his dead brother’s paystub info for taxes or insurance while he was dipping his wick in her?
I wonder what he was selling to China?
A possible explanation: he was a Navy reservist. As a senior Air Force reservist, I was issued a government card reader for use on my private computer so I could access personnel and administrative data. I don’t know whether that included government encryption, but if they did, that could be one reason. However, I was never permitted to access actual classified material outside of official computers within the appropriate NIPR, SIPR or JWICS systems.
Hunter was a commissioned officer for a short time. Such certificates would come with access to DoD email.
There should be FReepers with better knowledge of whether such certs are classified.
