This is laughable. Brazil could make up for the difference overnight. It’s a flipping cornucopia for fertilizer AND food.

This article was written by a mathematically declined author. If Russia supplies 85% of Brazil’s fertilizer demand, and Belarus another 28%, why, that’s 113% right there, not including domestic production and all other imports.

I like Zero Hedge. The reader comments there are a hoot. But Zero Hedge has a subtle pro-Russian slant to it. It’s always been that way. So any article that quotes ZH is a bit suspect to me.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

“Brazil imports 95% of its nitrogen fertilizers, and Russia is the leading supplier, accounting for 21% of the amount imported, followed by China, Qatar, and Algeria (see Figure 1). In 2020, Brazil produced 224,000 tons of nitrogen fertilizers, which met slightly more than 4% of the country´s demand.”

So 20% comes from Russia.

It is approaching autumn in Brazil right now. They have some time to worry about next spring’s plantings.

Russian Arron Corp bought some Brazilian fertilizer plants a few months ago. I think they are going to be just fine.

Globalism is dead, folks. Countries can not and should not completely become dependent on each other. It just creates the capability to execute economic warfare.
