Question: I’m an attorney with over $200,000 in federal student loan debt, and I desperately want to file for bankruptcy on these loans. I’m on an income-driven repayment plan and would like my student loans to be forgiven or eliminated, if that option is available to me. Can you please help?

Must not be a very good attorney if asking legal questions of internet news media.

My answer is for the next guy who’s contemplating going to law school on student loans.
Take up an honorable profession instead, like plumbing and learn on the job.

The legal profession is not as lucrative as you might think. There is a huge oversupply of lawyers! I know a couple of lawyers that gave up practice because they weren’t making any money at it. In one case he went back to the job he did before he came a lawyer.

We’re headed back to the 70’s, folks.
Now is a good time for fixed-interest debt.

You would think for all the “education” this person would know that bankruptcy doesn’t remove student load debt.

Join one of the big asbestos or Roundup ambulance chaser scams. You can pay off your student debt the first day on the job and still have enough left over for a six month Caribbean cruise, a nice house and a couple of BMWs.

Don't expect others to pay your debt.
"Loan forgiveness" means exactly that, someone else is forced to carry your weight.

Didn’t we do this a couple weeks ago followed by some female not wanting to pay her loans too?

An attorney who doesn’t know discharging student loans is nearly impossible? Lousy attorney and law school.

I don’t think the taxpayers should have to “forgive” you for running up a 200K debt going to college to become a shyster lawyer.

Charge more, work more, cook at home, pay more than the minimum. If you get 200,000 in debt for a 100,000 a year job you can pay it off in 20 years.
