Any opinions on Puretalk Cellular
Vanity

Posted on 03/11/2022 8:20:35 PM PST by pfflier

AMAC keeps pushing PureTalk over other wireless carriers as having no agenda or being "un-woke". How does PureTalk rate compared to other carriers in terms of access, reliability, cost and customer service? How easy is it to switch over?

I pay $20 + tax/month as a single guy with unlimited talk/text and 3gigs data which I rarely use all of.
Puretalk is highly recommended by little old me.

Same story here. Been with them for about 5 years.

You should never use WiFi without a VPN. Or any other form of broadband.

Then they have no idea where you are going.

And neither does your ISP.

Or the FIB.

Or AT&T if you are using cellular bandwidth.

I use Private Internet Access for $40 a year. They let you install it on 10 devices if you want.

I have it on my router at home. That way all my devices are behind a VPN.

I used to use DD-WRT on my routers, but ASUS routers support VPNs natively and it’s easier.

Puretalk would not work with my tracfone, so I bought a Nokia from Puretalk for only $50.

Trouble is it won’t charge. Maybe it’s because we didn’t put the sim card in the phone properly. Will try again.

Unfortunately, we did not get the Nokia cell phone to work, even with PureTalk teckie walking us through it.

We called Nokia and they said Nokia is not combatible with Puretalk.

Nokia also sent us an email, and part of it is:

“..Regarding your request;

This device will work with the following carriers:

https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_us/feature-phones

AT&T
Boost
Cricket
H2O Wireless
Metro
Net10
Simple Mobile
T-Mobile
Tracfone “

I don’t know why Puretalk cells Nokia phones, but maybe the Puretalk employee wasn’t trained well enough to walk me through it.

However, since Nokia says it is not compatible with Puretalk, it does not make sense that Puretalk would sell them.
