Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed on the New Mexico set of the Alec Baldwin film “Rust” after she was shot by a prop gun fired by the film’s star and producer, Alec Baldwin. IATSE Local 44, which covers prop masters, sent an email to its members early Friday morning that said the gun used in the scene contained “a live round” and the production’s propmaster was not a member of Local 44. Director Joel Souza also was hit and injured by a bullet and was treated at an area hospital before being released.

In the email that IATSE Local 44 sent to its membership, Secretary-Treasurer Anthony Pawluc described the event as an “an accidental weapons discharge” in which “A live single round was accidentally fired on set by the principal actor, hitting both the Director of Photography, Local 600 member Halnya Hutchins, and Director Joel Souza … Local 44 has confirmed that the Props, Set Decoration, Special Effects and Construction Departments were staffed by New Mexico crew members. There were no Local 44 members on the call sheet.”

Why was there even live ammo on the set?
NEVER with LIVE AMMO.
If there were no members of this union on the set, how are they so sure what happened?
Can we please wait until we hear just a smidgin of facts?
Laws don’t apply to celebutards and Democrat politicians. Nothing will happen to Alec Baldwin.
If the cops were doing a real investigation, they would confiscate the gun, examine the spent casing for finger prints or DNA and find out who purchased and had access to the bullets. However the cops are under the control of New Mexico Democrats and simply will not do a thorough investigation of Hollywood ,liberal icon Baldwin Yet he had to be very close and aimed that gun at that woman. It went right through her a and struck another man.
Heard on report on another thread that the crew went out target practicing earlier. Sounds like they did not clear their weapons before bringing them back to be used on set.
Red October one of MY favorites, also-—BUT NOT because of Baldwin.
Why? What are live rounds doing in a prop gun?
Absolutely. Even at a glance, a blank round is easy to distinguish from a live round. This is a serious foul-up. I have worked a lot with reenactors, and you can make a dummy round in which the cartridge is filled with sand instead of gunpowder to simulate the weight of a live cartridge. There was no good reason for there to be a live round on location.
Baldwin is a despicable human being, but right now there is no indication he did anything wrong. Let this play out.
Of course it wasn’t al-ick’s fault. As I posted in a different thread. Why would there be ANY live ammo on set? Prop guy goes down, al-ick goes on as usual since he’ll suffer such emotional harm.
THE question that needs to be answered. There is NO good reason for a live round to be present during filming.
No. He's hated so he's guilty. *sigh*
His brother Stephan is a Christian who has been "after" Alec for years. Maybe, just maybe.............
He is just down the road in ABQ.
He killed her. Blasted her. Shot her down
And as the producer, he hired non-union New Mexican gun handlers who didn’t know what they were doing.
Other than clearing the chamber of a live round and pointing the gun at someone and pulling the trigger.
This a job for Columbo.
Watch them get more updates that he’s using scabs vs killing a woman.
I don’t shoot, but even I know the first rule of firearm safety is to treat every weapon as if it were loaded. The second rule is to NEVER under any circumstances point a weapon at anything you don’t intent to kill.
