Ah, the good old days.
?
The Romans would only execute the leaders. The rank and file, healthy young men were sold into slavery. Wonder how many people living today are descendants of those defeated soldiers that were enslaved by the Romans for over 600 years. Charlemagne could have made a pretty penny if he sold them off rather than execute them.
Get along
Get along, Kid Charlemagne
Get along, Kid Charlemagne
And after centuries of this nonsense the penchant to apply religion as a violent political force was bled out of Europe and gradually the laws of the secular government quit being used to enforce purely religious dictates, and freedom to practice the religion of your choice became institutionalized in the western nations.
Well, Christianity has a little over 600 years head start on Islam and the wars that used religion as their causes in Europe finished about mid-century in the 1600s, so does that mean the world has until maybe the 2200s before Islamic states will be bled of their church-state ties, OR is that impossible with Islam?
I use Charlemagne as one of my 3C’s of historicity because the date is easy to remember.
C1: Was Julius CCCCaesar a Roman General who started a ccivil war against Rome?
C2: Did CCCChristophe CCCColumbus CCross the Atlantic Ocean in 1492?
C3: Was CCCCharlemagne ccrowned “Holy Roman Emperor” by the Pope on CCCChristmas day in 800 AD?
If you accccept these 3 historicity dates then you have far more than enough evidence to accccept that Jesus died cccclaiming to be God Himself — even His enemies accknowledge this.
I always liked Kid Charlemagne...and Larry Carlton’s hot solos.
