President Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan has left the country in shambles and the Taliban wasted no time in striking, now controlling large swaths of the country as the remaining Afghan forces give little resistance.

The Taliban have begun releasing propaganda videos documenting their triumphs.

...

Over 2,442 US troops dead and 20,666 wounded in the war since 2001, over $2.26 trillion spent, 20 years of fighting and what do we have to show for it?

Our hostile elites got rich off the war contracts and bought themselves lavish palaces but the American people just got stuck with the bill and had their kids sent home in body bags.

From OpIndia, “Afghanistan: Taliban captures 5 major cities in just 3 days, gets control of opium smuggling routes”:

Trump would have watched over them and sent in help but the dems just want to create “refugees” to spread around the world.

Wrong. Trump would have been out of there faster than Biden, which is why he drew the wrath of the corrupt Generals such as Mattis.

Trump had us scheduled to be out of there by a certain date May?? Biden moved it to 9-11 and then changed the date again.

Hmmmm. Maybe they can convert some of the gear we so graciously left for them and they can plant more poppy fields.

If you’d gone to the Soviets in the spring of 1989...when they left Afghanistan, they would have told you that it’s false belief that the region can ever be stabilized. You could have thrown the Romans into this....the Nazis...the Japanese of 1939...it doesn’t matter.

You are correct. The only solution for Afghanistan is leave them alone and let them kill each other. If they export this violence to us, go Mid-Evil on them from the air, repeat as necessary. Mid-Evil worked during WWII. It will work today.

"Cry havoc and let slip the Dogs of War." If you can not do this, do not go to war, as you will lose.

Afghanistan isn’t even a nation in the real world, it is really nothing more than a overlapping pocket of tribal areas. Most of the original Taliban were Pakistanis that were pushed out Pakistan in the early and mid 1990s after several assassinations and regional coup attempts in West Tribal Areas. Funded and supported by not only Pakistan by radical Islamic Islamic elements the Taliban was able to take over 90% of the nation in 1996. Simply put Afghanistan as a nation was never going to work because loyalty is not to a government, but to ones tribe, tribal elders, whoever has the most guns and willing to kill the most people!

from my home page

I have been advocating for several years a policy I call ‘embaseees’. Embassy + AirBase —> EmBASEeees. We go into a terrorist country, clear out their taliban equivalent, then withdraw to very large Embassies, perhaps 3 of them. Have them big enough to encompass a military airbase where we can use it for decades on end to conduct anti-terrorism operations. As long as the ‘host’ country aint killing Americans then we let them have self-sovereignty. Kind of like how we operated in the Phillipines for decades. We could even have an intermediate zone that we patrol but it would be autonomous. Let them have their taste of freedom. A referendum every 10 years to see how large the boundaries of the intermediate autonomous zone should be.

The politicians don’t have the stomach to do what it takes to win; but they don’t have the ability to resist meddling.

“After Biden’s U.S. Surrender”

This has zero to do with Biden.

First of all, he’s not making any decisions about Afghanistan or anything else.

Second of all, getting out of there is ten years too late.

And third, and most importantly, the Taliban are the legitimate government of Afghanistan, or, if you prefer, the massively popular faction above all the other savages, and, as soon as opposition was removed their takeover was inevitable, whoever the US President was.

The only question left is, do they have a going-away party planned for any US forces who recklessly remain on 9/11 or will we be allowed to leave in peace?

The latter is certainly not Muslim warrior custom. Hope whoever is in charge has a plan.

We have to take care of the people who worked to help us. They’re going to be slaughtered.

President Trump wouldn’t abandon them. ChiCom Joe will.

How would a Trump withdrawal been any better? Or any worse?

That's like the Democrats asking how Trump's policy against ISIS was going to be any different from Obama's. The devil was in the details and mindset -- things like changing the Rules of Engagement.

Apparently, the Biden withdrawal from Afghanistan was chaotic, without any significant advance coordination with Afghan forces. Bagram - with its huge stockpiles of supplies and equipment -- was overrun almost immediately. We cannot know what went on behind the scenes, but there was clearly no coordination of air power with the remaining Afghan forces to prevent that from happening.

Would Trump have done things differently, and ordered more support and coordination than did Biden? We don't know that, but it also isn't fair to assume a Trump withdrawal would have looked the same. The Biden Administration absolutely owns the "great bug-out" aspect of this withdrawal.
