I was never really Rah-Rah USA for the Olympics, I liked good stories about great athletes regardless of where they were from. Although, yes I always enjoyed when the Commies lost, especially the "Miracle on Ice".
But the fact is, a lot of athletes who compete for other countries, live and train right here in the US, and many have attended US Universities.
I care more about the medal count by University:
Go Gators!

Rapinoe has got to be one of the most repulsive, obnoxious anti-American sports figures in modern times.
She is the face of Subway restaurants. Tell me again why anyone would want to eat there?

I was always a rah-rah Go USA type...not this time. The cartoon in the article exemplifies me perfectly for this Olympics and sadly, future Olympics.

I think there is a fundamental change across the world that’s been going on for the past decade or so.
Olympic viewership down in
France 20-75% down
Germany down 75%
BBC down 61%

You also have to factor in on-demand video, where you can go and watch the highlights of any event at your leisure. Plus the timezone differences make it difficult to watch events live anyway, so why not just go on You Tube and watch them.

I didn’t watch any of, didn’t miss it, don’t feel bad at all.
I didn’t lose a thing. Feel the same way about major league baseball, NFL, and assorted other garbage entertainment run for the benefit of pampered, spoiled brats.

What bothered me about this year’s Olympics coverage is that our local news media barely mentioned the fact that the first American to win a gold medal (Lee Kiefer, in fencing) came from the city I live in, Lexington, KY. What’s more, she beat the Russians, who were favored to win, and her husband won the bronze in the same competition.

WE watched the Olympics with the same fervor and eagerness, we now have for watching the NFL, NBA and MLB.

Except for the female wrestler from Houston who gave a fantastic interview on how proud she was to be an American and a Christian.

Yea rooting for your country is no longer fashionable except in few countries. This is not a US isolated issue I find.

NBC focused on “All Simone, All The Time”, that nobody cared about the American who actually won the Individual All-Around Gold Medal.

My thoughts as well. Too many better things to do with your valuable time than watching a bunch of pampered prima donnas.
