What bothered me about this year’s Olympics coverage is that our local news media barely mentioned the fact that the first American to win a gold medal (Lee Kiefer, in fencing) came from the city I live in, Lexington, KY. What’s more, she beat the Russians, who were favored to win, and her husband won the bronze in the same competition.
NBC focused on “All Simone, All The Time”, that nobody cared about the American who actually won the Individual All-Around Gold Medal.
