As far as the human race is concerned I wouldn't bet against us. We are amazingly resilient and adaptive.

I don't know.... he seemed in pretty good shape for a ninety -year old. We had to take away my Dad's license when he reached 91.... stop signs and red lights became a real problem for him. He once drove around a traffic circle... in the wrong direction (without and mishap Thank God).
Capitalist Society:
Three Mile Island, a Nuclear Power Plant that avoided a Meltdown when there was a system disruption and had a Reactor encased in a Containment Dome just in case. There were no direct or indirect Fatalities when the Malfunction occurred.
Communist Society:
Chernobyl, a Nuclear Power Plant (designed to produce Weapons Grade Plutonium) experienced a Reactor Meltdown. The Reactor was only covered with a porous Metal Structure, not a Containment Dome. The ensuing Radiation Leaks caused numerous direct and indirect Fatalities and turned an entire swath of surrounding Land into an uninhabitable wasteland.
Additionally, the Radiation Cloud drifted over Europe, causing panic and forcing the affected Countries to take actions to prevent any harm to their Populations.
