A federal judge tossed a lawsuit filed by a nurse against Houston Methodist hospital over its requirement that all employees be vaccinated against Covid.
117 employees filed a lawsuit against a Houston-area hospital over its Covid-19 vaccine mandate.

Jennifer Bridges, a registered nurse at the hospital said that doctors are being forced from their practices and ultimately left with no choice but to abandon their patients.
The lawsuit argued the vaccine mandate violates the Nuremberg Code and US statutes that allow Americans to refuse “unapproved” treatments.
The employees sued The Methodist Hospital, the Methodist Hospital System and Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital.
David Bernard, the CEO of Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital told employees that they can find a job elsewhere if they refuse the experimental Covid vaccine.
“100% vaccination is more important than your individual freedom. Everyone [sic] of you is replaceable. If you don’t like what your [sic] doing you can leave and we will replace your spot,” Bernard told the employees.
U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes of Houston, a Reagan appointee tossed out the lawsuit on Saturday and blasted Jennifer Bridges.

Remember, kids...stay the hell aware from a career in health care.
Good.
Guess there is “one” in every crowd/on every thread.
Not all medical systems are as tyrannical...
Based on this precedent, is this judge saying that if an employer insisted that all employees be injected with tracking microchips to track them like we do with our pets, or be fired, that it would be legal and the workers can find other jobs if they don't like it?

Ye gads. Now I understand why they changed 'personnel' to 'human resources' years ago. Potential patients should avoid this place like the plague.
This.
Private institutions have the right to enforce their own rules - as long as the reason for firing is legal (that is, not due to sex, religion, race, etc.)
Maybe these 117 should rush to establish their credentials in an anti-vaccine religion....
Give them time.
Give them time.
I am absolutely shocked at the level of trust in the experimental gene therapy shown by some here.
I actually have a family member who was interested in a position at Methodist. One of the questions on the (obviously new) application was willingness to get “vaccinated.” So apparently Methodist is now screening applicants and it would appear is interested in only hiring those who have “papers.”
Deal breaker for the person. Plenty of positions where this is not required...
What law firm is representing Houston Methodist?
My guess is Baker Botts
Do any of these places tell the employee WHICH non-FDA-approved vaccine of the three currently on the market (Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson&Johnson) they want them to get?
Which other vaccinations do they require?
I don’t know about family member’s job application. They did not say any particular brand was required...
I told them to self-identify as vaccinated ;)
Which other vaccinations do they require?
At their current position, they are required to get an annual flu shot and every so often provide a letter regarding TB as they have tested positive in the past...At their current position tho highly recommended, they are not required to get a COVID-19 “experimental use gene therapy jab.”
At Methodist Hospital system in TX, I believe the only “vaccination” -related question stated to the effect that vax will be required within the year and if applicant was willing to get it...Yes or no...
They did not mention being asked about any other vaccinations on that application—and they have not mentioned seeing vaccination question on any other applications nor being asked on any job interviews (they are actively applying for a new position).

Guarantee that it is the best representation that BigPharma $$ can buy.
Jamestown, I don’t know the ramifications, but these non-profits do take Medicare, Medicaid which are Federal and/or state dollars), so that may impact the recourse of the 117.
Well, I guess we’ll see.
Wonder what will happen when the HIV vaccine is approved in a few years.
To me a little surprising that after these 117 have worked thru the pandemic either catching COVID and having immunity or taking other measurers to not catch COVID through other therapies, to be told their employment hinges on taking an experimental therapy...or be let go is extremely disturbing and disappointing.
I don’t know whether a religious exemption was an option for them. Why can’t they use the “My body, my choice” argument if they are not religious.
Fortunately Houston is 4th largest city in US. Hopefully they can stand by their convictions and find new employment without their lives being disrupted too much should an (assumed) appeal go against them...
