I can’t fault your optimism, but concessions by the Dems are rarely of any great value and tend to evaporate like the morning dew. Example: NYC 1976 - New Yorkers who owned the dreaded “assault weapons” were required to register them with the promise that the registration lists would NEVER be used for confiscation. Fast forward to 1991. Democrat mayor David Dinkins got the city council to pass a semiauto ban where all of those fools who complied with the registration laws were given notice that they had 90 days to get rid of their property or turn them in to the police. Those who did not comply got a visit from NYC’s finest jackbooted thugs and were arrested.

They don’t care about enforcing it per se. When they stop you and find a pistol, that is a charge. When your neighbor calls 9 11 and says they were walking by your house and said they smelled smoke from within your house and they investigate find a pistol, that is a charge. When your friend turns you in, well because he can and they go to your house...... But if they pass it 99% of the sheep will comply and turn those who don’t comply. Because it is a law and Conservatives obey the law. I obey the Law, They got to obey the law too. The theft of the 2020 election proved to the Powers That Be That Conservatives will not fight. Therefore they are not really worried. They can proceed with their plans.
Cheer up. Come September that will all be just a distasteful memory.
