A vision of the Tree of Death, cut down to make the Cross.
A new legend.
When the angel with the flaming sword set up guard outside the Garden of Eden to keep out the children of Adam and Eve from this original garden now forbidden to the expelled;
satan set up a Garden of Death just outside the closed Paradise, to mock God.
There satan planted a tree, perverted from the Tree of Life, a Tree of Death.
It gave bad, alluring fruit, of every filthy perversion of all the good things God made for man to live the fullness of abundant life, things of the flesh, the heart and the mind.
But satan knew that something was amiss from his plan to turn the world into the way station to hell, when his tree of death was cut down.
A servant of the Romans, who made all men offer incense to their god Caesar, cut down the tree of death from satan's garden.
It was used to make the cross on which Jesus Christ would offer ransom for all the lost children of Adam and Eve.
Thus God turns every evil into greater, unimagined good.
A vision of the Tree of Death, between waking and sleeping (while praying), 15 minutes ago.
I was told growing up that the cross was made from a dogwood and that they used to be large and majestic, but were diminished in size after being used for the cross.
Not too many trees available in Jerusalem in those days. Probably a Cedar from Lebanon.
“I was told growing up that the cross was made from a dogwood “
Was told the same about the dog wood
Satan was devastated when Christ descended to the dead to preach the Gospel, prior to His Resurrection and Ascent into Heaven.
It has also been said that Golgotha and specifically the location of the Cross is on top of Adam’s burial location. I do not know the basis of this, or whether it is a pious legend.
St. Ambrose preached that when St. Helena found the true cross, “she worshiped not the wood, but the King, Him who hung on the wood."
Whether you believe the true wood cross of Christ was found or not is unimportant - IMHO. If we believe that Christ died on the cross for our redemption is what's eternally important.
I've also heard some teach that Golgotha, which means skull, is where the head of Goliath was buried.
These stories may or may not be true. What is true is that Christ was crucified on Golgotha for the remission of our sins - and that's good news !!
The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world is worthy of all worship and power and glory!
The crosses were often reused.
I read the writings of the early church fathers.
Crosses were often reused and Christ might have been hung on a cross that others had been executed on previously.
These species are native of North America not the middle east. If there are some species of this group of trees that are native of the middle east then the attributes attributed to the NA species is bogus.
“Golgotha and specifically the location of the Cross is on top of Adam’s burial location”. How can this be since Adam was buried before the flood? The dirt of the grave of Adam would be dispersed.
Lets worship the Creator not the creation.
Dogwood flowers have small crosses in the center of them or the flower forms a cross - will have to check next time tree flowers out in a few weeks.
The crucifixion site is at Golgotha, right above the cave where the Ark of the Covenant was/is hidden. Yeshua’s (Jesus) blood flowed down the cross, down thru the crack caused by the earthquake and fell on the left side of the Ark, the opposite side where blood was sprinkled on the day of Atonement by the Jewish priests.(no blood had EVER been sprinkled on this side of the Ark) This act finalized the sacrifice for sin once and for all. Thus the truth of His last words, “IT IS FINISHED”.
It was selected by some brute Roman executioner. They would not waste expensive wood on a cross! It had to be some really cheap wood, probably pine.
“The principal piece of the Cross came from a tree formerly growing in the Valley of Josaphat, near the torrent of Cedron, and which, having fallen across the stream, had been used as a sort of bridge.” Anne Catherine Emmerich
Satan would not have had Judas betray Christ to have Him crucified if he knew Christ’s Resurrection would save souls.
