Millions refuse to work

The sign in the McDonald's showed what is wrong with society today. The sign read, "We are short-staffed. Please be patient with the staff that did not show up. No one wants to work anymore."

Not only do people not want to go to work, they resent having to wait for their food because the McDonald's is understaffed. Pigs have better manners.

The Sun story said, "Workers in the hospitality industry have been concerned about their own health and safety in the work place."

That was a nice try to sugar-coat the pill, but the truth is millions of Americans who should be working are being paid to sit at home and do nothing but play video games.

In 15 months we have gone from the greatest economy in American history to this Zoom world where no one seems to wear pants anymore.

In Chicago, 6,585 schoolteachers voted against re-opening schools.

Negotiations with the teachers union and not science determined whether schools would re-open.

NBC reported, "The union said 13,681 members voted to approve the agreement and 6,585 voted against it. In a statement, the union described the agreement as the 'absolute limit to which CPS [Chicago Public Schools] was willing to go at the bargaining table to guarantee a minimum number of guardrails for any semblance of safety in schools.' "

At least one-third of Chicago teachers do not wish to work. Covid-19 is a good excuse.

Once upon a time, students played hooky. Now teachers do.

In another story, NBC reported, "The number of job vacancies soared to nearly 15 million by mid-March, but discouraged, hesitant and fearful job seekers means many positions are still unfilled, according to new data from online job site ZipRecruiter.

"Online job postings plunged from 10 million before the start of the pandemic last year to just below 6 million last May, as lockdowns and shutdown orders forced businesses to close their doors and reduce or lay off workers.

"Now, as vaccinations increase and companies are again able to make projections, they’re staffing up to capture booming demand, with the number of open positions across all online listings soaring 5 million above the pandemic’s start."

Discouraged workers?

They just want to play video games all morning, and then go to McDonald's and complain about slow service because the joint is understaffed.

All this will do is strengthen the calls to allow in more illegals who are willing to work.

What family members who own two businesses have been experiencing is that more people would rather sit home and collect the stimulus money being thrown around than put in a full day of labor. People have already admitted it. Many businesses in our area have Help Wanted signs out but people are like, why work? And honestly, would an employer want to hire those people anyway? The Dementiarats have brought this country down in such a short period of time, it’s amazing.

One would think that there would be a market for burger building robots.

If I were in the hog slop business I would replace every one of the slacker employees with a machine.

The few times I grab a burger at McDonald's, when I ask them to hold the ketchup and mustard at least a robot is much more likely to get the order right

intentionally mess up orders so they can get fired and be eligible for unemployment and fake a disability or two to collect the govt “crazy bucks” and live off us taxpaying schmucks?

Most places won't allow you to collect unemployment when you're fired for cause.

Millions refuse to work for wages set to attract illegal immigrant workers and indentured servant foreigners with work visas

Fixed it for you...

I went to an IHOP last Sunday. Service was terrible! Slow to bring drinks, slow to take our order, slow to get our food! Slow to clean the tables of those who left.

But the food was excellent when it finally arrived.

Useless millennial slacker: “I don’t have to work. I make more money sitting home playing HALO in mom’s basemen.”

“Hey, man, I ordered my, like, Quarterpounder with cheese, like, a half hour ago. WTF?”

Friend’s mom, worked retail for ~$300/week. Was laid off due to store closing. It wasn’t an “essential” business, so they said and lost too much money.

Now she gets $4,000/ month in unemployment.

Goes without saying that she’s not motivated to work.

The core of “the great reset” free paycheck for enslavement. I wonder if one day soon she’ll be required to get the vax for her handouts and how she’ll react.

The robots are coming to fast food.

It just takes awhile for the manufacturers to scale up—in a few years large chain fast food restaurants will be unrecognizable.

I don’t want to work, either. I’d much rather lay on the couch and collect government freebies. That’s the life.

Two long time vendors that I placed orders with today told me that my lead time have gone from 5-7 days to 17-20 days.

I am having to tell my customers that lead times on everything are getting longer. You know how that goes over with clients that are certain the world revolves around them?

Remember how Reagan fired the air traffic controllers? I suspect nobody in Chicago who could do so, wants to get into a situation of dismissing teachers.

Big mistake not to fire the teachers. If it is in anyones power they would be a hero.

My brother teaches some high level stuff at the high school level. CAD design, pre-engineering type stuff.

The tyrannical governess of Michigan is shutting schools again. He’s totally pissed off. He wants to teach and his stuff has to be done in person.

My daughter has two businesses and it has been very difficult for her to find people who want to work. The minimum pay is in the 50 grand range and our cost of living is probably close to the lowest in the country here in LA - lower Alabama.

The local pizza joint laid off people last year due to COV19.
Between state unemployment compensation, $300.00 a week and the federal add-in of $600.00. The laid off workers were making $900 a week compared to $500 a week for a 40 hour week.

In my state unemployment pays as well as a 15 dollar full time job.

With no taxes.

These places can’t compete with that

Companies are afraid to enforce or even crack down on their attendance policies because if they force people to work and they get Covid, there are no legal protections for companies so they can get sued.

So “Covid LOAs” are a thing and no one can do $hit about it.
Even if the employees doesn’t have Covid, they can say they’re a high risk group, or they had a close contact from a friend or family member, etc.

It’s killing this country slowly..........

Even when I was in school I thought there was something wrong with a grown up who wants to spend decades with 13 year old kids.

My experience with teachers, especially college level, is that they are mostly people who were simply afraid to leave school. They stayed in their academic comfort zone until they retired. Some of my college instructors, even back in the seventies, were so out of touch with the real world it was absurd.

As long as they are paid more not to work they won’t work at all. It is time to let the chips fall as they may.

The local Waddlemart has been undergoing a transformation for the last few weeks. It amazes me they can take that long. The front of the store is going to just three conventional checkers and a fourth that is an express lane. All the rest are going to self-checkout. It seems to me like the opportunity for theft would go up but I guess they somehow detect un-scanned goods.
