Question to everyone that has gotten the vaccine. Which one did you get and did you have a reaction.

I’m with Bloody Sam on this...Don’t get the jab unless compelled. The J&J, while note perfect, is not a mRNA which I absolutely don’t trust.

Wife had the Moderna, and was sick for a day after both injections. BTW, she also had the ‘Rona. Which made the vaccine kind of unnecessary.

I had the ‘Rona too, and I’m refusing “the jab”... period.

We are thinking of getting the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. I am so nervous about it. I feel like I am in a game of Russian roulette, playing the odds. What are your thoughts about it?

whether or not to get the shot depends on animal spirits:

-fear
-risk aversion
-time preference
-herd behavior
-degree of worship of big government
-one's own hierarchy of values
-degree of optimism or pessimism
-bias of how much one values safety of relatives
-one's own rational self interest and true interests
-how much one's self esteem depends on opinions of others

I haven’t lived in fear over this whole covid mess. I’ve travelled to see family in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas. I’ve stopped at almost every casino I’ve driven by. I’ve been in the hotels and casinos in Vegas almost every 2 weeks. I got the J&J simply because I have a trip to Italy I need to rebook as soon as we can. I was the last one in the family to be vaccinated because I refused to do the 2 times shot and was waiting for the J&J to be easy. Wasn’t going to go through some stupid waiting game to get it. Yesterday they started giving it at the cancer clinic I was treated at. In and out in 15 minutes.

I was feeling the peer pressure to get vaccine. Plus my son is ill and I want to freely be around him. However, the JnJ was not available in the DFW area which ticked me off. I drove 100 miles one way to a small town to get the JnJ shot. Zero side effects.

You made a good choice.

Everyone needs to stop making blanket declarations. The decision to get it should be based on your own risk assessment for your age and health condition. Period.

If you are an overweight old guy/gal or diabetic or have other health issues you are at higher risk. Period. The data is clear.

If that describes you (anyone here) you do NOT fall into the 1% risk category. As stated above, you can also survive it in those categories (likely) but still suffer long-term health issues afterwards.

I am glad I got it. On the other hand, my wife does not want it nor does she need it and I am fine with that. Her decision. My teenage kids do not need the vaccine nor will they get it.

To the original poster - it’s all about you and your risk. Period. It’s not about what someone here thinks. You know your health the best and you know your own personal risks and/or the risks to others that you might present.

No experimental gene therapy (mRNA - Moderna and Pfizer) for me and I refuse to be injected with the J & J that used fetal cells in its development.

I'm immune system compromised and resisted getting any of the vaccinations. I did quite a bit of research on my own and consulted with my specialist about which vaccine to take, if I were to take it at all. Over the last year I've done all I can to boost my immune system and protect myself as I should. I've not been a "mask nazi" or tried to tell others how to live or what to wear. I didn't "hibernate" or stay completely away from people, I acted responsibly and carefully.

I spent about a month doing my own research, soul searching and praying to God about all this. I was (and remain) very conflicted about whether or not taking the vaccine was the right thing to do.

Ultimately I received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine this past Wednesday, April 7th. I chose that one in consultation with my doctor primarily because it has the least side effects for people with my autoimmune disorder and is a "one and done" shot.

I received the shot Wednesday at 3:30pm.

Later that evening around 10:30 I experienced some low grade fever and took some Tylenol for it and went to bed.

I awoke about 8 hours later on Thursday morning and the low grade fever was gone, though I had a mid-grade headache and felt pretty sluggish. I work from home so I was able to work for about 5 hours and then hit the couch for a nap.

I awoke from my nap after sleeping four hours and felt like I was back to 90%. I ate something small for dinner, hopped back online for a little bit and finished my workday before going back to bed at around 11pm Thursday evening.

Yesterday morning (Friday) I awoke and felt 100% again.

So my side effects were a short duration low-grade fever, a medium severity headache and sluggishness for much of my day Thursday. I also had some nauseousness though it was mild and I dealt with that by staying hydrated and nibbling a bit here and there during the day.

Getting vaccinated is a personal choice, I struggled with it for about a month doing research, talking to my specialist, friends who are on both sides of the debate and prayer. More than anything I pray I did the right thing. Not just for me, for those I love and care about as well. I simply could not live with myself if I somehow contracted the virus and gave it to someone else who it severely and permanently harmed or killed. I have to believe there's a greater good aspect here as well, and that this was God's will for me. I pray I did the right thing and I pray God has a purpose in all this.

Putting this into perspective, this country has suffered an even greater loss than 9-11. Much like we were attacked that horrible day by people who hate us, our faith and our way of life I believe we were attacked by the Communist Chinese via biological warfare. IMO the evidence is too strong to say otherwise. Much like how this country came together (although briefly, sadly) after 9-11 my prayer is that the tragic loss of more than a half-million lives in this most recent attack does bring us together in faith and somehow, in God's plan brings us all closer to him.

In closing, I respect those who choose to not get the emergency use "vaccine" because they have legitimate moral concerns over them and have concerns about the safety of them. I genuinely share those concerns and struggle with them myself even still.

I hope this helps you, blueyon.

My wife and I are 11 and 13 days past our 2nd Moderna vaccinations. Reactions to the first shot were arm soreness for three days. Second shots were comparable with a little added achiness. Total freedom comes in a very few days. Woo hoo!

Moderna...times two...sore arm for a day or two after each one. The same soreness I get with the “regular” flu shot I get every September.

... My 91-year-old Mom has had both shots of the same with no concerns. She also had COVID a year ago with only minor symptoms FWIW while a third of the nursing home she resides in died from it.

Wow! That is quite a story. It must have been horrible to watch her "neighbors" perishing all around her.

Why would you even consider taking this unproven, experimental agent if you feel you’re playing a game of Russian roulette, by doing so??

Are you obese? Do you have diabetes??

Go ahead and get the vaccine and then you can relax and quit worrying about the virus.

Really?

You now have to worry about people who REFUSED the vaccine.

You now have to worry about getting the next one and the next one.

You also must continue to social distance and wear the muzzle.

This will never end.

They got you my friend.

Good post and solid reasoning based on your own circumstance.

Kudos for calling out China as well. Not enough of us do that nor do we do it frequently enough. Had China been honest about it the damage would have been far more minimal (and panic) in the West.

God bless.
