How The Gun Control Lobby Plans To Kill The Second Amendment
19FortyFive ^ | 2/25/2021 | Peter Suciu

Gun control groups are playing a “long game” or better put, a “long con,” because they believe they will win in inches not miles. Today it is banning assault rifles, and once they get that they’ll move on. Anyone who actually believes these lobby groups will go away should think again. Not only because these individuals – misguided they may be by some accounts – believe in their cause, but it is an industry now.

Again.... they fight, we don’t. We aren’t even willing to protect our kids against predatory homosexuals and trannies. Name a SINGLE social issue we have beat the commies at in the last 50 years? None. They win through incrementalism, control of the press and fighting hard. Unfortunately, they’ll win this one too in time. Owning a gun will be the social equivalent to owning a slave.

There is nothing new about the left’s attempts to erode 2nd amendment rights incrementally. What I find scary is that they appear to be heading for something much more sudden by talk of declaring a “national emergency” which would involve gun confiscation a la the Third Reich.

They’ve done that before, haven’t they?

Doesn’t matter. It’s a bit like a German in 1944 germany concerned about the long term legal effects of a new Hitler law. He’ll be dead in a year, as will the country.

Same thing here.

Controlled Opposition. That’s their job - to lose and make it look close. Almost just short of the goal.

This is why Trump was so dangerous, and why the Establishment is so afraid of them. Both ‘Parties’. There’s only one party - Socialists and Controlled Opposition coming together to form The Establishment.

Actually, we’re winning on the whole gun debate.

Back in the Reagan days, numerous laws prohibited concealed carry, most states did not allow it, and then shortly afterwards the school shootings started to happen, starting with the Cleveland Elementary school in California in 1989, the first Assault Weapons Ban was enacted and up through the decades Columbine, Newton and Parkland.

Yet gun sales are through the roof. Every time there is a mass shooting, the press trots out the demands for gun control, yet citizens, voting with their dollars, but more guns.

State after state, starting in the 1990s, began issuing concealed carry, and now even open carry laws. The Supremes ruled the the 2nd Amendment applies to the people, and not just governments.

We have reached critical mass. People won’t give up their guns despite any government action.

I do not trust the Supreme Court, by the way, but the fact that the 2nd is recognized as an individual right makes it much more difficult for the gun grabbers to grab.

How they planned to kill the 2nd back in 1976..still in the works today.

From 1976.

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc.

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.

Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — TOTALLY ILLEGAL.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

HCI, around 1984, suddenly made a grab for the semi-auto rifles and shotguns, and missed But they showed their hand. As a result all gun owners know we are always up against a stacked deck.

*******
And HERE IS how they will do it, one small step at a time.

And to think, in 1962 Thomas J Dodd and Emauell Cellar proposed the first federal law on common firearms.

1962; “We don’t want to take away your guns, we ONLY want to register handguns! Rifles and shotguns will not be affected”.

1964: “We only want to register all your guns, not ban them! Only Army surplus guns will be banned.”

1968: “We only want to register your guns, and ban “Saturday Night Specials” and small foreign handguns along with army surplus rifles!” (They got the ban on 5 shot army surplus rifles and handguns and small foreign pistols)

1970: “We only want to ban Saturday night specials! Large handguns and rifles will not be affected!”

1976: “We only want to ban all handguns! Long guns will not be affected!”

1981: “The NRA is a rifle organization! They should give up their handguns, and they can keep their rifles!”- Lee Grant on GMA

1984: “We must ban “assault Rifles, unsuitable or hunting!”

1989: George Bush bans import of some foreign made “assault rifles”.

1992: Assault rifle ban passed by Clinton.

2000: first calls to ban single shot .50 cal rifles...

2012 calls for MORE bans on semi auto rifles and handguns. If you can’t ban them then go after ammo limits, the magazines and styles of the stocks.

And so it continues.

The US military, National Guard, Police number about 2,500,000 men.
VS.
20,000,000 civilian semi-auto rifle owners, and maybe 75 million other firearm owners, and over 400,000,000 firearms out there. 250,000,000 high cap magazines in private hands.

And the government thinks they can “regulate” that?

No one wants to take your guns away. Today.

The liberals plan to gradually make gun ownership so difficult and expensive that many will give them up. They won’t try outlawing and confiscation because that would result in a shooting war that they could not win.

First, they will outlaw certain types of guns. Any firearm that can accept a detachable magazine will become an “assault weapon”. Your scoped .30-06 deer rifle will become a “sniper rifle”. Your 12 gauge pump shotgun will become a “street sweeper”. They will outlaw “armor piercing” ammunition which will be defined as any bullet that can penetrate soft body armor. That will mean that practically ALL rifle ammunition will be banned. All replacement parts for your firearms will be prohibited from being manufactured or sold.

Then they will institute high capacity magazine bans and prohibitions against transferring them, safe storage requirements, mandatory liability insurance, registration, restrictions on where and how you can carry and use a gun. A violation of any one of them will be a felony that takes away your right to keep and bear arms. They will require expensive and lengthy “safety training” and licensing. All firearms transfers will be required to go through a background check and the current law will be changed so that any agent of the government will have instant access to the database. Having unregistered firearm will be a felony with a severe penalty.

Firearms must be disassembled, so they cannot be “readily assembled” in under some arbitrary time. All firearms must be stored in an expensive, government approved safe and ammunition in a separate safe. The government will be given a list of purchasers of such safes. There will be no-warrant spot checks to verify storage requirements and the accuracy of your registered firearms. Alternately, you will be allowed to store your firearms at a government approved facility. When you check your guns out, notice will be sent to the government in case you’re a terrorist or a patriot (both are the same to liberals) You must account for every round fired.

Then there will be high taxes on ammunition and firearms, background checks before you can buy ammunition or reloading components, universal background checks on firearms, elimination of instant background checks, mandatory waiting periods where the government can delay approval indefinitely where your social media posts will be scrutinized for “troubling” content. If you buy “too much” ammunition or reloading components, it will trigger an automatic red flag to law enforcement where you will have to explain why you need to reload 1000 rounds of 9mm.

They will have secret “no buy” lists that any politician, law enforcement officer, or bureaucrat can add to and no one is allowed to see. There will be with no due process once your name is on it. There will be “red flag laws” where anyone can report you as a “threat” where your firearms can be seized without due process.

There will be a ban on the manufacture of new firearms, except to the government, of course, and a total ban on the transfer of existing firearms, even to relatives in a will.

And don’t forget about “smart guns” which will be ridiculously expensive, unreliable, and easily overridden and defeated to make it possible for the government to disable them remotely. All new firearms will be required to have them and eventually they will require ALL firearms to be retrofitted with them. Which is impossible of course, but anyone caught with a dumb gun will be charged with a felony and jailed.

During all this, your children and grandchildren will be flooded with propaganda that tells them that guns are bad, no one needs guns and that they should rat out family members, neighbors and friends with “illegal” guns and how “good citizens” turn in grandpop’s guns when he dies.

All of this will be done a step at a time with the promise of safety. Their safety. They sit behind desks in buildings with government-paid, armed security and bulletproof glass and ride around in armored limousines living in the best houses and eating the finest food your money can buy.

By that time, the citizens will be brainwashed into believing that it’s for their own good as the warden slams the doors shut.

Important optomism in a time when people all to freely give into doom and gloom about everything. Thank you.

Life is constant battle with evil ideas and evil intentions, we cannot become discouraged to do nothing.

We do that and the country truly is lost.

> they fight, we don’t.

All right. I’m curious how many here - with, for example, a 14 year old high school freshman daughter - have allowed, for example, a 19-year-old delayed high school senior man to invade her changing or showering space at school.

Anyone here going to own that?

Will anyone here not physically intervene if such a situation comes up?

So, how are we not fighting?

Almost all of what we think we are not fighting is words. Threats. You don’t have to fight until they put their bad words into practice.

They are NOT misguided. They are evil. They are trying to take away our God given right to self defense and as far as I’m concerned they aren’t any different than those criminals who actually breakin into your house and hold you at gunpoint. They both want you disarmed and helpless. Are armed robberies “misguided?” Or are they evil.
