This rather curious article in Time (yes, Time still exists) is getting a lot of attention. You might think that the title of this post is fanciful or facetious, but it’s pretty much a summary of the self-congratulatory title of the piece (by Molly Ball): “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election.”

I am waiting for there to be an announcement of an FBI investigation of collusion between the left wing activists and some industry big wigs and whether the Biden campagin properly identified the poltical contriubutions by these two groups. But Christopher Wray is still the FBI director? Never mind about any FBI investigations.
I don’t think Time would be admitting this (even in this slanted way) if they
didn’t know that some very damaging truths are about to come out. This is
them trying to put their spin on it in advance. Storm coming, I think.

Agree. This is their SOP to get out ahead of breaking news. Now they will say, yeah, we rigged the election, but, hey, we got Orange Man Bad out of the White House, so it was all justified.
You’re right as well as the posting about the Time Magazine article. Conservatives and Trump voters already knew about changing election laws (not by the state legislatures) and the manipulation of social media to limit knowledge of Hunter Biden’s laptop as well as the insistence that there was “no evidence” of election and/or voter fraud. They want to argue that it was done legally and non-partisan but the public knows it wasn’t done constitutionally and was definitely partisan. Another possible reason is that they know republican state legislatures will be under pressure by primary voters to change election laws to eliminate universal mail-in ballots.

It does something far more devious – it claims that everything this group did was non-partisan, had absolutely nothing to do with wanting Biden elected, and was merely for the noble purpose of guaranteeing a fair election and making sure people didn’t believe Trump’s conspiracy claims which they of course knew would be false even before the election occurred. And to do this, they paradoxically helped to relax the election rules so much that actual fraud and/or claims of fraud would be far more likely, and they did that only for the very noble purpose of stopping the nefarious “voter suppression” the GOP was trying to accomplish. You see, all efforts at voter security can be re-defined as voter suppression, and many courts will buy it.”
