Republicans Taking Aim at California Run For Governor If Newsom Recall Succeeds

Republicans in California are announcing their intentions to run for governor should the recall effort against Democrat Gavin Newsom succeed.

The Los Angeles Times reports that businessman John Cox, former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, and registered independent Mike Cernovich all intend to challenge Newsom.

Cox, who lost to Newsom in the 2018 gubernatorial race, cited the Democrat governor’s failed leadership as reason to step in saying, “The state is in crisis.”

Faulconer, former mayor of San Diego and whom the Times describes as “the most prominent challengers to Democrat Newsom,” has already raised roughly $1 million for the cause.

“It’s time to restore balance and common sense to California,” he said.

“People don’t really care about partisanship right now,” added Faulconer. “What people care about is leadership and somebody who is going to fix things and get results.”

...

Cernovich acknowledged his chances of winning a recall race were remote, but declared he had a different goal in mind.

In a Periscope video announcing his bid, Cernovich provided criticism of Newsom one could expect from a “provocateur.”

“There’s a zero percent chance I could win the election,” he said. “I have no delusion about that, but if I can get enough of a base of support I can force [Newsom] … to answer for his war crimes, his human rights violations.”

In California it’s a two question ballot.

Question 1: recall yes / no. Must be 50%+1 “no” for the officeholder to be recalled.

Question 2: who should take office if officeholder is recalled? This is a jungle list (all parties + independents) and the most votes wins, with no requirement of a majority or runoff. The custom in California is that absent criminal misbehavior by the officeholder, members of his party don’t run on the Question 2 line, or if they do, they receive no financial support. The sole message is supposed to be “vote no” on the recall. In 1993 Cruz Bustamante, then the Democratic Lieutenant Governor, put himself on the ballot, raised no money, barely broke 30% of the vote losing to Arnold, and ended his political career.

“Who is doing the vote counting?”

In 40 counties it is Dominion Systems.

In some ways the best outcome for conservatives would be a transparently fraudulent vote count.

Fundamental change requires a majority to completely lose deference to fraudulent institutions, and the elites who run them.

Republicans, conservatives, and liberterains in CA are going to have to unite behind a best case candidate. Sorry conservatives, thats the hard reality. No purity test passed conservative stands a snowballs chance in Hades of getting enough votes. You have to pick some moderate with broad appeal and unite behind them. Yes, it’s hold the nose and vote time.

I saw the picture of the maid. That told me all I needed to know about him. EW! I am not saying that his wife was anything more or less than a dog. What I am saying is that with that money, I damned sure could’ve come up with better looking stuff than that!

LOL.

There is absolutely no possibility a Republican will ever again be California Governor. None. Zero.

What a joke. He should not waste his time and his donor’s money.
