Hard to say. The real question is what does The Constitution have to do with anything when it comes to demonicRATS?

DemonicRATS view The Constitution the way Capt. Barbossa views The Pirates' Code. More of a loose set of guidelines than a set of hard and fast rules.

If you look at the apparatus that a state government requires....adding up salaries, there’s probably another 1,500 DC employees that would have to be part of this state structure.

Explain to me how you’d pay for this. They’d be in California-broke status in five years. I don’t see anyone being willing to funnel a billion a year...to run a banana-republic state of fake status. Ask the Georgetown crowd how quadrupling their property taxes would fill.

Good thing we boycotted the GA Senate runoffs

Dominion voting machine theft is a real thing, unless you believe the election of 11/3 was honest.

“The nation’s capital, the federal enclave, continues to exist as the nation’s capital and everything outside of those new boundaries becomes the 51st state.”

So, Mayor Bowser, will the federal enclave get 3 Electoral votes as required by the 23rd Amendment? Doesn’t that pose a problem for the District’s becoming the 51st state?

DC already has statehood.
It is the retro ceded parts of Virginia that became Arlington county.
Since the federal enclave part of the city must exist as directed by the Constitution, the only parts of the city in discussion can be retroceded to Maryland.

It is ridiculous to believe that the remnant portions of a small city would be given statehood while major cities like New York, Houston, Chicago, etc. are not.

I seem to recall reading that the Founding Fathers decreed that the nations capitol shall “not reside in a state..but rather a district”..to avoid states rights trumping federal law...

While I do not personally favor Puerto Rico statehood (and there is not a solid majority of support for it within PR itself), that would at least be plausible. the District of Columbia was created to be a NON-state, because the entire nation’s capital should not be in and subject to a single state’s laws and politicians. IMHO, that was true in 1790 and remains very true today.

Article 4, Section 3

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State;

nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

It is up to congress. Goodbye Republic, Hello globalism.

Here we go.. Is this the beginning of stacking the court.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you mean that a Supreme Court that follows the Constitution would not allow D.C. to become a state without a Constitutional Amendment, but it could be achieved by packing the court with people who will ignore the Constitution. Right?

Let’s see how John Roberts will handle that. My guess? He will give 3 electoral votes to Joe Biden because he resides the remaining federal district which consists of the White House, the Capitol and the Supreme Court.

They don’t even need to pack the court. SCOTUS will likely just refuse to hear the case due to standing or some other procedural excuse.

DC can’t be a state and retain federal government facilities - they need to pick one

better still, evacuate DC of all non-govt related civilians
