I was struck by Dennis Prager's comparison of "Good Germans" with "Good Americans," but I now think it misses the mark.
The true comparison is West Berliners to East Berliners.
In the United States, we have families split between open Red States and closed Blue States. In open Red states, one can go out to dinner at local restaurants and bars, get haircuts and manicures, go to parks and theaters. In closed Blue states, there are curfews and fines, travel restrictions and quarantines, "essential" workers and everyone else.
The Democrat party erected a wall between Red and Blue states, literally overnight. If you were trapped behind the wall, you were denied the right to grow vegetable gardens in your backyard, to travel to vacation homes, to send your children to school, to hold family celebrations. Those on the open side were allowed to shop, to play sports, to operate businesses, to openly gather.
This "wall" between Red and Blue states is a foreshadowing of the "electronic wall" on the Mexican border that liberals had been chastizing President Trump about in place of the physical wall being built. Instead, they built that pseudo-wall between the states themselves, and woe to the Americans who found themselves on the wrong side of it.

God has not shown respect of Cain's offering of Communism. Cain is pissed.
Who’d want to go to a Blue state anyway other than having to pass through it going to a Red state?
It’s literally this house/that house
You are what you eat!
Are there checkpoints at state borders to check for out-of-state license plates (the new Checkpoint Charlies)?
-PJ
The only checkpoint state I know of is CA and that was for fruits/veggies; can’t bring out of state stuff in.
Blue areas. Not blue states. ALL states have red areas.
Here in Texas, we had the county judge in Harris County try to impose more severe restrictions in Houston, but the governor overruled her, saying that she didn't have the authority to impose more than the governor authorized.

The analogy is incomplete unless East Berliners are able to mingle freely in West Berlin and aggressively agitate for communism.
Probably safer to go around.

Or just over.
Airlines are putting more and more people on their "no fly" lists over political statements.

Then mum’s the word. I had to hide my Star of David with the Cross in the middle inside my blouse when working lest I disturb the sensibilities of some muzzie.
Great analogy. I’ve been to Checkpoint Charlie.
Visited Germany before the wall came down. Traveled all over the country including Berlin. West Berlin was prosperous and booming. Then climbed on a tour bus at Checkpoint Charlie to see East Berlin, a sad place with beautiful buildings replaced by barracks-like “apartments,” terrible food, no place to buy a souvenir because there were no stores. And the “junkyard” where toppled statues of former leaders were kept.
Just like today’s “cancel culture.”
Addenda: I’m glad I’ve seen every part of the world I want to because I am NOT getting stupid vaccine so probably will not get passport.
Remember that Govern Whitmer of Michigan gave the Democrat response to the State of the Union in 2020, and then she locked down Michigan a few months later.
