Parler, the alternative social network that has been accused of hosting many of the discussions related to last Wednesday’s Capitol insurrection, is currently offline after it was removed from Apple and Google’s app stores, and also had its web hosting pulled by Amazon Web Services.

Yep and Im sure antifa and blm never used twitter to discuss causing violence at the capitol or anywhere else for that matter- nope- no sireee
Signal says it’s encrypted. How do I know if it really is?
Jack Dorsey loves signal. He owns part of it.
Just saying.
It’s open source.
Where did you hear this? Dorsey bought Whisper systems, a start up that involved one of the founders of Signal. Signal was initially funded by Brian Acton, not sure where you see Dorsey had anything to do with Signal.
There’s no direct connection between Parler’s “loss” and Signal’s “gains.”
Twitter was always a trap, even before they totally politicized it. The whole business of “micro blogging” social media is a trap, even “free speech” or “right wing” alternatives. Shun them all.
Parler and Signal are two totally different types of apps. Apples and oranges.
Just saying.
Nope. Signal is a 501c3 non-profit. Signal is the bomb! Even end to end encrypted internet phone calls.
But Signal isn’t like Parler. It id like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or Viber, a messaging system. It became popular because Facebook, which owns WhatsApp will force the sharing of a person’s information on their site.
The Whisper engine is Twitter’s. Signal uses Whisper.
Moxie started a new company called Open Whispers. Not at all confusing for people trying to keep up with it. Moxie used to work for Twitter, then left.
Thanks for clarifying this. Lots of scuttlebutt circulating about Signal. It’s pretty standard for executives to own a small stake in a company just to watch them more carefully.
