Now I'm even more curious to hear how it went as far as duration and difficulty, esp. if you're in that immediate age group!
I've know some people who did - either directly or through news reports - and most have been short duration, though no one as old as my mom.
1 person had major problems, had to quit work from my DH's group, and was told now he needs a lung transplant - but he had cystic fibrosis, which is deadly in itself.
Any comments on your experience?
He is a severe asthmatic, and he came through just fine.
My mother in law got it in a NY nursing home. She was very confused and lost her appetite. She pulled through it like a champ. We ZOOM call her once a week as visiting is not allowed. She had a stoke before she went to the nursing home but actually she is easier to understand now.
Not a virologist - My 75 year old mom who has been a type 1 diabetic for 45 years and my 81 year old dad both had it. Both had a cold for a few days and were fine. Lots of reason for hope. Crazy year.
Start zinc, vit C, and president Trump also was given Pepcid along with whatever his Dr prescribed. Prayers up.
No personal experience but the ONE thing that is known about this thing is early treatment is key. So get your mom treatment ASAP. This is a nasty bug at her age and people do best who get the therapeutics in them right at the beginning.

This is a serious disease, but it is not a death sentence. The survival chances are freakin' excellent if you don't have comorbidities.
Don't give into fear.
I have just offered up a prayer for you and yours.
The wife of a co-worker in late 80s had it and recovered at home, supposedly “no symptoms”. He isolated at home (staying with her), but seems to not have gotten it, himself.
My son and his wife and 2 kids all had it, with only very minor symptoms for a couple of them, no treatments.
Her Dr put her on the drug the leftist tried to outlaw because it works (Chloroquercitin and an anti viral cocktail.)

Good for her!
The Mama’s & Papas swear it was only after a pipe fell on Mama Cass’ head while they were in the Caribbean that she was able to sing the higher notes.
If she owns a Sun, she clearly has access to Star Drive and
probably wields control over a whole system of planets.
I would try to get on her good side.
Since she has chronic COPD you might ask about whether she should have a script for Budesonide. Some Drs are using it to treat COVID
For those that cant get a script there is an OTC version
I’m waiting for test results. I tested Monday morning. Third time. Have funny symptoms. Sore tongue and throat, funny taste, lethargy, since Friday.
I follow a doctor, Dr. Coates, from Texas A&M who regularly gives our alumni forum updates. He also gives updates on Facebook. This is what he recommends.
Quercetin from 250mg up to 1g twice per day Remember this is a Zinc ionophore.
Vitamin D3 Take this for sure if you are deficient and I now recommend taking it either daily or weekly as long as your values are not too high. Remember too much vitamin D can cause issues. However, if you are diagnosed with Covid-19 take 50,000IU immediately as this appears to have significant benefits.
Sleep greater than 8 hours per night
CoQ10 100-300mg per day: a potent antioxidant that potentially helps balance oxidative stress, increase vasodilation, prevent clot formation and decrease vasoconstriction.
Zinc any amount is probably good but take what you can tolerate without making you feel bad up to 40mg. You do not want to be Zinc deficient as it is how many drugs like HCQ work.
Melatonin 0.1mg to 10mg at night. Take what you can tolerate and what helps you sleep without making you feel drugged or tired in the morning. If you are diabetic watch your sugars.
N-acetylcysteine (NAC) - 600mg twice per day shown to decrease severity of influenza, improve lung functions in COPD, antioxidant properties, potentially helps prevent clotting and with mental disorders. Caution for asthmatics as there is potential for bronchospasm but this is rare.
Vitamin C 250mg to 500mg twice per day. Effects debatable in oral form but IV did help in China. But is proven to strengthen immune system
Green Tea either drink some or 1 pill per day alternate zinc ionophore if you don’t have or don’t take Quercetin
Famotidine 10-20mg twice per day potentially inhibits viral replication and helps with heartburn
Baby Aspirin 81mg aspirin to thin blood and help prevent clots but only after discussing with your physician to make sure you have no contraindications to its use.
Ivermectin
HCQ and other stuff
Asthma inhaler and other stuff
Do NOT screw around...
Good hint
Yep.
I had it early on - just before the hysteria.
My doctor couldn’t figure it out. I kept working through it. It was like a weird chest cold that wouldn’t go away. A little nagging cough and wheezing. I thought my teenage asthma was triggered by allergies.
It wore me down and I felt plain lousy.
... stayed home, laid around, drank fluids, took vitamins and ate good food instead of junk for a week or so...
...I got better.
Unless you have other health problems, this is just another bug like the ones we all catch and recover from several times every year.
I’m not a doctor, but have been following the literature on potential treatments.
The current national protocols in the US are to do nothing until the person is in the hospital and on oxygen. But there are effective treatments.
First you need to get her on Vitamin D and lots of it. Vit D won’t prevent COVID but low Vit D is fatal with COVID.
There are 4 drugs known to stop viral replication of Covid. Hydroxylchloroquine plus zinc, Ivermectin, Doxycycline, and azithromycin (z-pak).
You need a doctor’s prescription for any of the 4. And I would call around until I found a doctor willing to prescribe them. Particularly the ivermectin.
Search Free Republic for Ivermectin.
Ivermectin is considered the best and is effective at any stage of the illness.
Quercetin is over the counter and is a zinc ionosphore like hydroxylchloroquine. So Quercetin plus zinc would be very helpful.
Doxycycline and azithromycin are anti-biotics but they do have anti-viral effects.
. He was largely asymptomatic Monday and Tuesday -:99 degree fever. This morning his blood ox dropped, at noon it crashed, he was in ER by 2. It’s bad. Very bad. He may not make it through the night.
I had it.
I didn’t know I was sick and went to the doctor because I had two bloody toes — no other symptoms, except maybe a bit tired.
Apparently, that’s a thing “COVID toe”. It’s caused by weird clotting.
I took aspirin and tested negative.
The toes hung around for three weeks.
