Our doe-eyed Governor comes through for us once again.
Gov. Whitmer closing high schools, colleges, in-person dining, casinos, movie theaters
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced wide-ranging new restrictions limiting gatherings at high schools, colleges and restaurants Sunday night to combat what she described as the "worst moment" yet in the COVID-19 pandemic.
The restrictions, imposed through a Michigan Department of Health and Human Services order [ed. because the Michigan Supreme Court said she wasn’t allowed to do so by edict anymore, this is the ‘legal’ work-around], will take effect Wednesday and be in place until they end on Dec. 8. Under the order, indoor residential gatherings will be limited to two households at any one time.
"The situation has never been more dire," Whitmer said Sunday. "We are at the precipice, and we need to take some action."
Ah yes, those damn precipices.
I wish we all had a governor as enlightened (and self-aware) as New York’s:
‘Abuse Of Power Is A Virus,’ Gov. Cuomo Says
And he would know.
So: what do you suppose the odds are that Raj’s scheduled surgery proceeds as planned on Wednesday?

I would never advocate for it but I am truly surprised that a few of these dictators who’ve ruined businesses lives home ownership sent sick in to nursing homes etc have yet to be assaulted.
The largest hospital system in my area has stopped accepting regular patients except for emergencies. I wish more people would take this seriously, there’s some kind of mass delusion going on that we can just ignore it.
Thought this article was interesting, some people using their final moments to call the virus a hoax:
I’ll bet that POSitmer has never done an honest hour’s work in her entire life...

We do take this seriously but we believe that the masks, social distancing, etc., are ineffective and politicians only mandate these things to give the appearance of ‘doing something’. There are also many others who wear mask, etc., for virtue signalling.
I’m sure it’s purely a coincidence that December 8 is the safe harbor day for certifying the results of the election. We wouldn’t want to allow any public gatherings to protest the fraud that has been committed....
I work for a health care provider and all of the docs say masks can reduce the spread, including docs specializing in infectious disease. 100% agreement.

Which type of masks? Those made out of t-shirts, surgical masks, N95?
How much do they reduce the spread?
But are they worth the costs?
Why not leave the decision to the individual on whether to mask or not?
At my facility everyone wears isolation masks (the disposable paper masks that are blue on one side). They effectively reduce (but do not eliminate) the risk of spread. A person not wearing one increases the risk for everyone else, and for that reason we won’t treat anyone not wearing a mask. The facility pays for them for everyone (staff and patients) so no one has out of pocket costs.
With people boiling in pent-up Blue-states for the next couple of months, and people in the Red-states livid over a stolen election - maybe January/February is when this finally blows?
Doesn't have to be anything co-ordinated, just 75 million people (mostly armed), mad-as-hell and not-going-to-take-it-anymore.
Don't know what form that would take, I just don't see Americans taking much more of this.
I heard that because of the impeachment and possibly recall, she’s able to raise unlimited funds. Always something.....

How much does not wearing a mask increase the risk?
The masks are not free. Someone pays the cost.
You’re basically repeating the mantra that a person should wear a mask to protect others, not themselves. That is just propaganda.

One other thing, the fact that medical facilities that encounter a high percentage of infections, doesn’t really address why the average person should be wearing a mask while walking around the neighborhood.
You act like it would be easy to get past their full-time armed police escorts.
Throughout the world there are persons trained in such matters.
And IF our secret services are a corrupt and incompetent as appears??
Mookabookers have failed to charge the Clinton crime sybdicate?
The Biden crime syndicate?
Get a grip/
It’s not propaganda. Available data indicates that if everyone wears makes it reduces spread by 70-80%.

It’s pure propaganda. 100% pure.
You just keep on believing that a little piece of cloth protect you.
Think about this. We’re at 92% mask wearing compliance and yet supposedly cases are surging dramatically.
In my case, I wear one when forced and that’s all. Maybe 5 minutes a day. Since this has begin, I’ve been to 13 states, multiple hotels, Met hundreds of people, shook hands, many gatherings, up to 50,000 people, countless restaurants.
Outside of a sterile setting, masks may have negligible effect but for the most part are fear theatre useful only for conditioning the easily manipulated.

Your study doesn’t support your claim. The study only reports that droplet transmission is reduced and says nothing about the effect on infections.
Second, all those references are in high risk areas and says nothing about whether masks should be worn everyday, everywhere by everyone.
I’ve seen reports that if everyone wears a mask for four months then deaths will be reduced by 40,000. Sounds good, right? Well suppose masks are four for a dollar. 300 million people. Four masks a day each (they can’t be reused). That’s 120 million masks a day for 160 days. That’s 192 billion masks costing $48Billion. You don’t suppose that money might be better spent trying to protect the most vulnerable instead of trying to protect those unlikely die from the virus.
I don’t see the logic in thinking masks are some sort of manipulation or control, but maybe that’s because I wore them at work before COVID.
Most of the spread seems to be occurring in mass indoor gatherings, especially restaurants and bars where people remove masks to eat or drink.
Your personal experience doesn’t really generate useful data. For example, if you’re generally healthy it’s entirely possible that you caught COVID and had zero symptoms, and spread it to others through your interactions.
The primary mechanism of spread is respiratory droplets, the transmission of which is reduced by masks.
We should be doing both masking and protecting the most vulnerable. Government aid is already $3 trillion+ along with untold economic impact. Unless something changes we’re going to see hospitals in hard hit areas (like mine) start collapsing. This will impact the care of anyone who needs a hospital, not just COVID patients.
