#sharpiegate: Legal Challenges Coming
Vanity

Posted on 11/04/2020 9:32:42 AM PST by TigerClaws

From chads to Sharpies. Lawsuits incoming.

Matt Schlapp: AZ update: apparently the use of sharpie pens in gop precincts is causing ballots to be invalidated. Could be huge numbers of mostly Trump supporters. More to come

Do you know HOW they are invalidated? Are they not being read by the machine or are they being tossed due to some election judge?

I’ve seen this claim. By report, the machine readers will work with sharpie-marked ballots. What is the reason someone thought those ballots were not being counted? I’ve never seen the reason for the concern.

Sharpie ink bleeds through the paper, causing false reads on the opposite side of two sided ballots.

They will have to be hand-counted and that is not difficult. Bleed-thru with a sharpie is easy to discern from direct application.

In TN you can mark your ballot with any black or blue pen or marker. Sharpies being a bit larger than ordinary pens, there should be no problem.

Some guy on the internet said. I know they usually say not to use them but I think it’s more because of bleed through than anything. Ours tend to be folded over and sharpie does a lot of bleed, so it could bleed into another part of the ballot and make a “vote”.

The sharpies soak thru the paper, making traces on the opposite side. It confuses the reading machine. But it is quite obvious to the naked eye. Just try to soak paper with sharpie, it’s obvious which side the sharpie was applied to.
I am not sure about the lawsuit, you cannot just invalidate million of votes because people were given sharpies! I would say manual recount would have to be done. I just cannot imagine manual recount of million votes!
This is a scandal!

Yes, for a human.

For some it can be a VERY slow process...

In our Florida precinct, we had two-sided ballots, and the pens provided in the voting booths were not “Sharpies”, but were similar.

ON TAPE you have a woman at a polling station saying “Yes its OK to use a sharpie” then those votes get invalidated..total BS..in CA, it says on the ballot that a pen must be used so I used a pen, I Guess it depends on the state

the question becomes was the entire ballot invalidated in that case or only the “bleed through” vote

My mail in ballot here in Northern California said to use black ink and had an image of a Sharpie. It does bleed through a bit but I checked on either side and the bleed throughs were not on any part to be marked. Maybe engineered that way?
