Rarely has our nation seen a judge more competent and qualified to serve on the Supreme Court than Amy Coney Barrett. During her confirmation hearing, she held me in thrall with the magnificence of her mind. Only once before has anyone inspired the thought, "Greatness walks amongst us." His name is Trey Gowdy. In Amy Coney Barrett, I feel the same awe and chills once again.
With Amy's confirmation, Lady Justice will no longer peek from underneath her blindfold. No longer will there be a finger surreptitiously pushing down on one side of her Scales of Justice.
When Barrett's Senate confirmation comes, and it will on Monday, we Americans can breathe a little easier knowing that Justice in America has been protected for decades to come with Amy sitting on the Supreme Court alongside Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch.
Despite Mrs. Barrett being, "The most impressive judicial nominee I've ever seen," the Democrats played hooky. They cheated themselves out of being part of history and disgusted us, their constituents.
We pay them $174,000 per year to do their job. Instead, they refused to do their job, boycotting the committee vote. Like sulking children, they propped posters of people who supposedly depended on Obamacare for their healthcare in their chairs in the committee room. Pathetic.
"They're not angry because this process isn't fair," observed Senator Michael Lee, "but because it is."
Who was absent from the vote? Keep this list in mind when they come up for re-election.
Senator Dianne Feinstein (CA) Senator Patrick Leahy (VT) Senator Dick Durbin (IL) Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (RI) Senator Amy Klobuchar (MN) Senator Christopher A. Coons (DE) Senator Richard Blumenthal (CT) Senator Mazie Hirono (HI) Senator Cory Booker (NJ) Senator Kamala Harris (CA)
There was a note of triumph in Senator Graham's voice when he declared, "We did it. We did it. Judge Barrett's nomination is going to the floor. I hope you look back on this time on the committee and say, 'I was there when it mattered,' and you were."
Pray for Justice Barrett, for her husband, Jesse, her children, Emma, Vivian, Tess, John Peter, Liam, Juliet and Benjamin and for the Republican Senators who vote on Monday to confirm her nomination to the Supreme Court.
And, as always, pray for President Trump.
Good point.
I wonder if the Democrats will boycott ACB’s floor vote on Monday?
If the situation were reversed with the DEMONcRATS having control of the White House and the Senate, their SCOTUS Nominee would have been seated two weeks ago.
Has one Republican Senator on the Judiciary Committee made that charge against any DEMONcRAT? The truth is obvious.
I’m really tired of the Ds playing dress-up:
Handmaid’s Tale red-robed freaks.
Fake suffragettes at the SotU.
Kneeling in their (slave-master) Kinte cloth stoles.
And now this.
It says a lot about the state of todays Democratic Party that Dianne Feinstein is the sanest name on the list. :)
"I'm watching the Democrats saying how terrible it is that we're appointing[ACB]we have the right," Trump said. "We won the election...And if they were in opposition they would do the same thing,...they would just do it more rapidly, okay? More rapidly."
Either than or filibuster, I suppose.
LOL It’s like they don’t want to re-elected.
All need to face consequences... every last one of them.
Lets hope they pull the same on Monday. Then we do not have to worry about the Susan Collins types in the Senate.
Lenora Thompson did a wonderful job with this post. It is concise and complete with the names of the sour old farts who boycotted this vote. The democrats do not like that now they have a justice who will make decisions based on the Constitution, not on liberal feelings like Ginsburg did. Instead of being grownups, they demonstrated their childishness by boycotting the commission vote. They are nasty people!

Anyone outside of the GOP voting yes?
I just read that Doug Jones may beat Tuberville for the old Sessions seat in AL.
In The Onion?
Nope. It was real.
Can’t filibuster a judicial appointment. Thanks to Harry Reed.

Good lord... what is that woman smoking. Amy Coney Barrett and Trey Gowdy are not in the same league. Amy Barrett is like a New York Yankee from the 1950s and Trey Gowdy is like a local little league all star team player. Sadly, Gowdy was very ineffectual in Congress. He talked a good game but delivered little. Amy Coney Barrett will be consequential in constitutional law for at least the first half of the 21st century.
Thank you. :)
Aaaannnnd I stopped reading right there.
