Thomas Friedman: I'm Terrified Covering America's Potential Second Civil War, I Shudder At Four More Years
RCP video ^ | 9-25-2020 | Ian Schwartz

Posted on 09/26/2020 4:41:59 AM PDT by Sir Napsalot

"New York Times" columnist Thomas Friedman said in an interview with CNN host Anderson Cooper on Thursday that if you are not frightened right now, you are not paying attention.

"It's terrifying because the Republican Party has become basically a political brothel, that rents itself out by the night to ever will energize its base," Friedman told Cooper. "Whether it was Sarah Palin or the Tea Party, and now Trump. This is a party that went into its convention with no platform. No platform. Basically said whatever Trump wants, we want."

(snip)

FRIEDMAN: Backed by a party without spine, amplified by a network without integrity, and by social networks that are marinated in conspiracy theories, behind whom are a lot of armed people. If you aren't frightened by this, you are not paying attention.

COOPER: So what happens? So what do you do?

FRIEDMAN: There's only one thing to do. Vote, go out and vote. Vote for Joe Biden, raise money for Joe Biden, canvass for Joe Biden. Register someone -- help someone registered to vote for Joe Biden, and drive someone to the polls to vote for Joe Biden. This is all about power, Anderson. This isn't you're not going to persuade the Republican Party. I had a good laugh tonight when I saw that Lindsey Graham said, don't worry. If we have -- if Joe Biden wins the election, you have nothing to worry about, will abide by that. The same guy, you know, who said if the Supreme Court situation that that the Republicans ran through before repeated again, he wouldn't be for it. There's only one tool we have, but it is a tool that can work, and that is to overwhelmingly vote. ..... I will cast my vote for Joe Biden.

Friedman has gone off the deep end. I thought he was a reasonable man a long time ago...but it’s been years.

If the Democrats are able to win the election by threatening more violence than what they've already given us, what will they do if they win? Stop the violence? Are you kidding yourself? If they win win this blackmail, their followers EVERYWHERE will just take what they want, and if someone stops them or tries to stop them, their will be more riots.

If folks think that all is going to be okay after the elections are over, they have completely deluded themselves. Once someone starts down the path of violence to get what they want, they are either killed...or the kill to get what they want. This is far from over.

Does anyone else not understand this sentence?

Thomas, you just helped me think of a great Republican campaign ad phrase:

It wasn't broken until the Democrats fixed it.

25 Sept: The Hill: What’s Biden’s real China policy? Unlike Trump, he’s done a 180
By Richard Grenell
Biden’s support of the Chinese Communist Party is long and personal. In 2000-2001, as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Biden led the Senate’s efforts to shepherd China into the World Trade Organization and to end annual congressional reviews of China’s status as a U.S. trading partner. At the time, Biden welcomed China’s emergence “as a great power, because great powers adhere to international norms in the areas of nonproliferation, human rights and trade.” As vice president in 2011, Biden said he believed “that a rising China is a positive, positive development, not only for China but for America and the world writ large.”

The benefits of embracing China were not merely diplomatic. Biden’s son, Hunter, may have benefited financially from his father’s cultivation of Beijing.
The younger Biden found his way into acquiring a stake in a billion-dollar private equity fund partly owned by a Chinese state-owned enterprise and funded by Chinese state-owned venture capital...
Even out of office — and as recently as last year — there was no indication Joe Biden thought any of this might be a problem for his presidential candidacy...

Well-stated. Transhuman TOTALITARIAN LOCKDOWN.

Without Free Republic, how difficult would it be to get a thought out to a large number of citizens outside of your immediate circle of friends and family?

Who has support nationally and internationally? Who funds worldwide and domestically? Who has support from the powerful to the not so powerful? Who has international agency support and domestic agency support? Who has foreign government support? Who is beyond questioning from our government? Who can destabilize/depopulate any place world-wide including The United States of America?

What HAPPENS when some of the most EVIL individuals in the world ARE Americans?

nothing

1. George Soros
2. Bill Gates
3. Mark Zuckerberg (thought burner, destabilization funder)
4. Jack Dorsey (thought burner, destabilization funder)
5. Etc., etc., etc.

Enemies Foreign, Enemies Domestic

it just gets funnier and funnier...

25 Sept: Foreign Policy: Biden Needs to Play the Nationalism Card Right Now
The 2020 election is veering into dangerous territory—and liberalism won’t be enough to win.
By Stephen M. Walt, Robert and Renée Belfer professor of international relations at Harvard University.
What does former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden have to do to get elected? Some observers say as little as possible...
I disagree, in part because the Electoral College helps Trump, but also because Trump has an important asset that the Democrats ignore at their peril: the power of nationalism...
If Biden wants to win in November, he should embrace nationalism while reaffirming liberal values. They are an election-winning combination...

To see why, you should start by reading John Mearsheimer’s speech upon receiving the American Political Science Association’s James Madison Award. His talk—entitled “Liberalism and Nationalism in Contemporary America”—argued that nationalism remains the most powerful political ideology on the planet and a critical source of identity for most human beings, including the vast majority of Americans...

The irony is that Biden himself is actually more patriotic—indeed, nationalistic—than Trump...

Hey,Tom...there’s a warm welcome awaiting you north of the border.

Friedman is a admirer of the Chinese Communist system. His future should be in China.

Friedman doesn't want to understand - get it - that revolutions which meet no resistance do not stop on their own, they only grow larger. Revolutionists need to be charged with sedition/treason and locked up or executed to stop the BS. When will the Country get past labeling the thugs “protesters” and call them revolutionists?

Poor Tom Friedman - went from Pulitzer Prize winning, respected journalist to a Left-wing, knee-jerk reflex idiot.

Tom lost is credibility sometime after he wrote his “From Beirut to Jerusalem” back in 1989.

Now he just shudders all the time and writes Left mouthpiece hit pieces.

Anybody who would bend over for Obama-Kerry, needs to be in a straight jacket.

You are 100% correct.

I noticed that the “author” didn’t even mention it.

I am not at all sure that he even knows which side he’s on.
