It would be nice to get a permanent replacement for Ginsburg. But I am doubtful that the weak GOP Senators will allow such a thing,
It is crucial to ensuring a fair election that Roberts does not hold the swing vote. He is owned and will allow many number of election scams to proceed.
Plan B mist be to recess the Senate and allow for a recess appointment. At the very least, it would neuter John Roberts and allow for this blatant election fraud to be shut down.
National Republican Senatorial Committee. Swamp creature central. I think, at the time, it was McConnell and Cornyn.
AG
Sheesh
McConnell was in on this? HORRIBLE!
well, let’s see him get the vote thru on a good Supreme Ct nomination now!
if he delivers I will try to continue supporting him
In this election hell to come we need a full court or it is curtains for this country
I see what you did there...
A lot of weird plane crashes happen in Alaska, and there is a Republican Governor to appoint a replacement
Argh! For f**ks sake, it’s MARTIAL law!!!!!!
Didn’t Trump share a list of potential Court picks? Are there any on that list?
You don’t recess appointment a Supreme Court justice. That is for the executive branch. Good grief.
Its been done before, know your history, good grief.
I repeat, there is no recess appointment for a Supreme Court justice. Recess appointments are for executive branch positions only. Civics much?
I see. Well, i know nothing of any crashes but it would be very helpful if a better person was somehow to show up representing the state
I have been writing about that on Twitter. There may be a procedural way the Dems can stop the recess. Still reading.
You are correct. I stand corrected. My apologies.
He could do Plan B and Plan A. Plan B as you outline and the next day make a permanent appointment. The recess appointee would give immediate coverage through the end of the next Senate session if necessary. The pressure would be off the Senate and they would have the remainder of the year to do their advice and consent duty. When the nominee is confirmed, he or she would replace the recess appointee. Somewhat like he has done with other positions requiring Senate confirmation.
Pick a black woman or hispanic and watch the DNC become completely destroyed!
BUT, the Arizona election is a special election and AZ law calls for the winner to be sent right to the Senate. McSally could well be out quickly and her leftist replacement in place for any vote further reducing the GOP majority.
Still trying to figure it out. I think with three day recess, the appointment could be made. More than three days may require concurrent resolution in the House. Dems will try playing games with “pro forma sessions.”
I was wrong...you can recess SC justice. My apologies.
New Jersey judge William J. Brennan was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956 by a recess appointment. This was done in part with an eye on the presidential campaign that year; Eisenhower was running for reelection, and his advisors thought it would be politically advantageous to place a northeastern Catholic on the court. Brennan was promptly confirmed when the Senate came back into session.
I cut and pasted this from another site.
