Sasse: ‘Lead Time’ We Had on Virus ‘Didn’t Translate Into Enough Action’
Breitbart - trending ^ | 9-9-2020 | Ian Hanchett

On Wednesday’s broadcast of Fox News Radio’s “Guy Benson Show,” Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) reacted to audio of President Donald Trump saying he played down the severity of coronavirus by stating that America “had some lead time on the virus, but that time didn’t translate into enough action.” And that the White House should have acted “like a team on a mission, trying to tackle a real problem, not trying to manage short-term media.”

Sasse said, “COVID isn’t a political problem, and it isn’t a public relations problem. It’s a public health crisis, that has also created an economic crisis, and the economic crisis is creating marital and public health crises, and tens of thousands of Americans have died from the virus, tens of millions of Americans are out of work because of the lockdown that flowed from the virus and from some government mistakes in response to the virus. It’s deadly serious stuff. And from the very beginning, I’ve been pushing that we needed a much more aggressive testing regime. Americans had some lead time on the virus, but that time didn’t translate into enough action. ....

Can people in NE have a stern talking-to to their own senator, please?

Can anybody tell me, "Pushing for more aggressive testing regime" (Remember at the time we didn't have enough high throughput covid testing capability) and we wouldn't have even more false positive results ===> Which leads to even more wide-spread panic? Is that what Sen. Sasse was/still is implying he wanted to see?

I’m convinced that both Sasse and Lee are on the spectrum.

The GOPe have been conditioned to accept every liberal premise as true and then run to a mic and start apologizing profusely.

Now that’s rich: A do-nothing GOP Senator lecturing about
“what needs to be done.”

The most important thing was minimizing the threat and making sure there was no coherent federal response so that all the political damage - regardless of what choices were made - fell on local officials, not on the White House. That’s leadership. Make no decisions, devolve responsibility onto a disjointed patchwork of states and municipalities, and then point the finger of blame at them when things go wrong. What more could we want from a Leader than that?

Everything is crystal clear in hindsight. Meanwhile, Dr. Faustus and all of the medical experts in the nation were saying this latest Coronavirus would not be as bad as SARS and was nothing to worry about. All of them said masks would neither be necessary nor useful.

None of them recommended shutting down entry to the nation. Trump shut down entry long before a single national medical expert endorsed it.

It is so easy to re-write history when the commedia is on your side.

The Congressional intelligence committees get the same intelligence as does the President. Where were they at the start of the pandemic.

If you’re going to say Democrats at that time were busy planting the virus in Wuhan I will respond with: facts not in evidence but I sure have my suspicions.

So, you've been armchair quarterbacking from the get-go, eh, Ben?

Senator, Sasse is a waste..period!!! Another Mitt Romney or, even worse then that, another, useless, traitor, turncoat like John McCain. As for Washington Post, Butt Wipe, Bob Woodward he will last a few days in news and on Amazon Books, but he, like John Bolton will fade like the buffoon he is. Woodwards fifteen minutes of fame are long gone!!!

Total bullcrap. This guy Sasse is an idiot, but we already knew that. Today, 7-8 months later, we still do not have a thoroughly reliable test that gives unequivocal results. So we could not have had it then. And we did not have the facility nor infrastructure to perform tens of millions of tests. So this whole notion is just goofball nonsense, a total non-reality.

More testing.

Mass testing is not nearly reliable enough, and based on experience at my daughter's university, we've found that you can be tested and found negative, and then be infected within a day or two following your test. This very event caused a quarantine at my daughter's sorority house, followed by a second one which they're only now free of as of this weekend.

The truth is that unless tests were available and could be self-administered on a daily basis (and people actually self-quarantined if positive), mass testing doesn't tell us much.

Sasse is a windbag and is repeating a liberal lie.

Hey bird brain Sasse, what the hell do you think the CDC and the NIH are there for? Blame them you idiot or shut the FU__ up!

It is very apparent that the U.S. Senate gets dumber everyday.

It’s amazing President Dr. Trump has been able to accomplish anything with spineless, self-aggrandizing armchair smear merchants like Ben Sasse supposedly in his party.
