Drudge’s Historic Crash Hits Rock Bottom; Numbers from Turbulent August Tank
True Pundit ^ | 09/08/2020 | Staff

Posted on 09/08/2020 8:17:15 AM PDT by Red Badger

Not even massive street riots, hordes of lawless vagrants burning cities throughout the United States and a dead-heat presidential election could help Matt Drudge’s spiraling news site in August.

The fall has been dramatic and historic, but also one predicted in mid 2019 by Thomas Paine.

Web numbers for the country’s biggest Joe Biden cheerleader just got worse for Matt Drudge’s spiraling news site in June.

Drudge’s monthly traffic in August was 63 million readers, according to similarweb.com analytics, down from 66 million in May. The spiral continues. In September 2019 Drudge was pulling close to 95 million readers and well over 100 million in August 2019, one year ago.

That’s roughly a 40 percent decline in clicks/traffic in a year, marking Drudge’s lowest volume of web visitors literally in decades.

A recap on Drudge’s slide that I wrote in December:

November brought an additional loss of almost 12 percent in web visitors to the embattled news site.

The loss of readers for Drudge since Septemeber is staggering. Drudge’s overall web traffic was down nearly 18 percent in September and October, according to the tracking metrics on Similar Web. That massive and accelrated slide went from approximately 93 million visits to 77 million.

News consumers here have clearly spoken and Drudge appears to be in serious trouble with these numbers. He is bleeding former loyalists and often, regaining them is an elusive and expensive task.

Obviously. Drudge — if he is even still running the site himself at this point — remains uninterested in slowing th bleeding. And the site isn’t just bleeding out, it is hemmoraging.

Drudge’s lost traffic, added up since August, is tetering on 30 percent. In Nov. 2019, I wrote about the signifigance of that number. Here is a recap:

I have used the Enron model — specifically the schematics of its plummeting stock index — as a barometer for pinpointing problematic corporate warning signs, trap doors, and wayward executives and it rarely fails.

That type of rapid slide, even though it is web traffic compared to stock price, is beginning to parallel Enron’s stock model.

The point of no return for Enron was between January and March 2001 — a mere 90-day span — when the stock price spiraled 33 percent from approximately $80 per share to $53.

Drudge’s web numbers are on a parallel trajectory. In July, Drudge was pulling almost 100 million web views (95 million). Now he’s at 68 million. In fact, he’s now witnessing a historic collapse that eclipses the Enron model.

If Drudge thought he was going to gain new readers by pivoting to the Left while dissing Conservatives he got what he wanted — except his loyal readers are the ones who left. In droves. And the exile isn’t over. — Thomas Paine

I thought he sold the site and once he got his money didn’t care how it did one way or another.

From Wiki:

In 2019, Rasmussen Reports reported that Drudge had sold the site and was no longer involved in its operations, which would also explain the change in editorial direction; however, that reporting was not confirmed.[1]

Who needs a pro-Biden Drudge Report when there already is CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today, etc., etc.

Drudge hasn't changed what he does, the cancel culture of the right has hit him...(just as it does with MLB, NFL, ChickFilA or any other "woke" entity)

Neither side likes to hear things that don't support their world view...

Remind a conservative that Trump is former registered Democrat and was a big friend with Hillary, even self-describing him as a Democrat as recently as 2004.

These things don't mean Trump isn't the best conservative choice for America today, but all you have to do is watch how people react to this statement of fact to realize how strong the cancel culture is on the right.

use to be the only news source I went to on the internet. First stop in the morning when I fired up the computer. I never go there now...for the same reason I never turn on CNN.

Remember when Rush use to have it on his computer screen during ditto cams?

Fox should heed the warning...they’re next on the spiral.

Drudge is so bad now that it’s almost like they are trying to find how abysmally low they can go. Daily Mail is a respectable publication and paragon of ethical journalism by comparison.

Bongino’s site is stylish yet fun and informative. He improved on the Drudge format by assembling headlines into categories. I switched to that from Drudge a couple of years ago and never looked back.

I have not visited Drudge for at least two years.

I can’t say that, but I’d say that my visits are down well over 99% compared to four years ago. A long time back I shifted from Drudge to FR as my primary go-to place for secular news.

Drudge is just part of the get rid of Trump team and like CNN Ratings are of secondary importance.

Whoever bought Drudge doesn’t care about tanking numbers.

That was the point.

Eliminate the opposing voice.

Only a few left. How much will it take to buy them out? Commies have deep pockets and an army of criminals ready to harrass.

How long do we really have?
