NYC will die if we don’t allow indoor dining in Midtown ASAP
The New York Post ^ | August 8, 2020 | Steve Cuozzo

Posted on 08/08/2020 3:11:06 PM PDT by MinorityRepublican

Restaurants -- to eat, to mingle, to do business -- are the lifeblood of Midtown, Steve Cuozzo argues. If they aren't reopened, workers won't return.

It’s the restaurants, stupid.

Midtown without places to eat is a hollow shell of itself. They’re the socializing glue without which no central business district can function.

“The first thing anyone asks anyone who goes back to an office is, ‘Where do you go for lunch?’ ” observed Mary Ann Tighe, the tristate CEO of CBRE, the biggest commercial real-estate leasing and management firm in the US, who knows the Manhattan office scene as well as anyone alive. Right now, the answer is nowhere.

The clock’s ticking. Unlike in residential areas, which are teeming with alfresco dining options, Midtown has few restaurants with outdoor service. Once the air chills and the days grow short, they’ll be gone in a flash, and with them, any hope for saving Manhattan’s heart and soul.

Indoor Restaurants = The Lifeblood of Society

I’m fine if people want to do indoor dining. However, it’s still a risky proposition. All you need is one drunken, COVID-positive loudmouth in the dining room to infect 15 other people and half the wait staff. Each restaurant can choose whether it wants to do indoors, outdoors or both, as far as I’m concerned.

Let it die. The people demanded that the Nation be locked down. They are getting what they wanted.

YAWN...Sigh, who cares? Decisions have consequences. NYC voted and elected these people who have destroyed their infrastructure. Move on. Not my problem.

Hey liberal infested NYC - do you really think we care?

You bought it. You live in it.

So much for your “culture”.

Manhattan is already dying.

NYC may become a restaurant desert, but that alone won’t kill it off.

Making rules that directly or indirectly limit trucking into the City will kill it off.

Die, New York!

Your elected officials are killing you and you do not seem to give a fig!

Most restaurants just threw tables out on the bike lanes and built instant garden dining overnight...it’s horrible!

“Indoor Restaurants = The Lifeblood of Society”

NOT true.

Outdoor grilles are the lifeblood of America.

As far as pandemics go, this is a mild one. 0.1% of 330 million Americans would be around 330,000. We are not even halfway there.

The CDC’s definition of a close contact is being within 6 feet of someone for 15 minutes.

I don’t imagine many diners do that with drunken loudmouth strangers.

Sorry.....Thanks to the low life, scum & vermin Democrats, NY, Governor, Andrew Cuomo & Mayor, Bill De Blasio, NYC has been long dead for months!!! Sad to say....but New York citizens killed the city themselves when they cast their vote for these two loser destroyers of the greatest city in the world!!!

Don’t complain New York folks...just take a good hard look in the nearest mirror and you will clearly see who destroyed NYC!!!

Want to bring NYC back...cast your vote for Trump/Pence, GOP...period!!!
