What caused the company to change its mind?
Colt Manufacturing Company has begun to sell its popular AR-15 modern sporting rifle to civilians again. In June, the company did a complete 180-degree turn after it had exited the civilian market for modern sporting rifles last September.
At that time, the company announced via a statement from its president and CEO Dennis Veilleux, the market for modern sporting rifles has experienced significant excess manufacturing capacity. Given this level of manufacturing capacity, we believe there is adequate supply for modern sporting rifles for the foreseeable future.
However, Colt Manufacturing, which was founded by Samuel Colt in 1855 and remains the consumer-facing brand, also reaffirmed at the time that Colt Defense would be committed to the production for the military and law enforcement market.
Our warfighters and law enforcement personnel continue to demand Colt rifles and we are fortunate enough to have been awarded significant military and law enforcement contracts, Veilleux added. Currently, these high-volume contracts are absorbing all of Colts manufacturing capacity for rifles. Colts commitment to the consumer markets, however, is unwavering.
Colts sudden exit from the market last year came as firearms sales had slumped, while the AR-15which Colt didnt actually design but bought the rights to produce from Armalite in the 1960shad been in the spotlight after several high profile mass shootings. Even as Colt had set the standard for excellence, it had also become a highly competitive market with plenty of options for consumers.

Dam right, anything to make a liberal crap his/hers/its pants!
I really like my Rock River Arms LAR-8. (AR-10). My arthritic shoulder doesn’t. Shoulder’s just gonna have to put up with it.
Overpriced and crappy triggers.

Anyone own a Zaviar Firearms AR? Any thoughts?
The big question is: How much? I might buy one for grandma and give it to her for Christmas.
“There is no ammo.”
The state and federal armories are a good place to look for ammo.
When the Libyan civil war started in 2011, the soldiers who refused to follow Khaddafi’s orders headed back to their provinces to protect home and family. They raided armories and found all kinds of good stuff. Enough, in fact, to kill the NWO deep state operatives and slaughter Khaddafi’s mercenaries.
I bought a good match barrel from Surplus Ammo a few years back. They had good deals on rifles, too, but they didn’t ship very fast (okay with me). Haven’t looked this time, yet, and don’t know whether or not they have much ammo.

“Flash Sale” (from spam received only once in a great while, which is okay with me, too)

Only thing in gun shops these days are basically “Fudd guns” and “Fudd cartridges”. The tactical stuff is no where to be found. Like TP at Walmart.
Well, then it’s not an AR15, it’s an AR10 (if it’s an Armalite, if not thrn it’s an LR308,SR25 etc.).
Pretty sure its a 9 mm. All the rage, these days, even in the AK platform.
Why dont you tell me how Colt went woke, as you said. Be specific.
Good for you.

That is NOT true. I have been buying 5.56 from several suppliers all through this planned-demic. Most popular ammo is in short supply and prices are up 20% over last year due to demand but you can still order bulk ammo. Lots of store shelves may be bare in your area but ther IS ammo available. You just have to look harder.
Id rather have a BCM, and I do.....
Out of an ammo feed bag that only weighs four pounds.
And the whole thing can be concealed under a t-shirt.
Because the AR-15 design is based on the AR-10 (rather than vice versa ;^), I think a better way to look at it might be, 'an AR-10 in a varmint caliber is an AR-15'. And if you want a "real" AR-10, you need an ArmaLite - I believe they retain rights to that name. Interesting to note, ArmaLite calls their more recent AR-15s 'M-15s' (probably a long-lasting result of selling their AR-15 rights to Colt).
In any case...
"'AR' stands for 'ArmaLite'!"
...a simple historical fact, which the current owners of ArmaLite apparently fail to grasp!
;^)
