Until last week, Gary Garrels was senior curator of painting and sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). He resigned his position after museum employees circulated a petition that accused him of racism and demanded his immediate ouster. "Gary's removal from SFMOMA is non-negotiable," read the petition. "Considering his lengthy tenure at this institution, we ask just how long have his toxic white supremacist beliefs regarding race and equity directed his position curating the content of the museum?"

My mom decided to take my little sister and me..to the L.A. Museum of Art.
My little sister was like 5 or 6..or so....
My mom and I were just walking about...and came upon this big painting on the wall...of a guy doing a handstand totally naked. We were just staring at it....
My little sister runs by us...Yelling "Look at the big balls!!!"....My mom was mortified...!!!
Turned out my little sister was running towards a giant display of billiard balls racked...on the floor.
For 98% of decent lawyers (I realize that’s an oxymoron) a wrongful (discrimination-based) dismissal suit would be a slam dunk.

He failed at painting and then became an exec in charge of a food company which was recently boycotted for his racist beliefs!
Well stated. You touch on the idiocy and duplicity of the attackers. It was not said that only white artists would be accepted but rather that art would not be rejected just because the artist was white.
This symbolic bowing to the 12% crap has to stop.

Considering this garbage has been going on for a decade (at least), it seems we should be at that point now.
I hope he will sue the museum out of existence and the employees who circulated the petition need to be hit hard too with lawsuits.

I think this is an intra-ruling class coup. BLM is almost entirely rich privileged white kids. They want to throw out their parents’ generation (Millennials?)and get the cushy jobs for themselves, pay themselves enormous amounts of taxpayers money, without having any skills, talent or knowledge. Defund the police means hiring people of their cohort to laze around and pretend to do social worker work, never leaving an office. It’s a coup run by white privileged kids to throw out the generation before them and do NOTHING and get paid.
