That’s a shame
The walk out of the food deserts to find something to eat will give them an appetite...
Of course, not everyone there was a looter/vandal,
but the looter/vandal types ended up HURTING everyone.......
That’s just too bad.
They burned down their grocery stores. Let them suffer mightily for it.
The young men in Gary, IN burnt the town down 30+ years ago. It has never recovered. There are no real stores in Gary. Some small corner groceries run by new arrivals from the Middle East and that is it. Parts of Gary look like Berlin in 1945. No one in their right mind would ever build a store in Gary, Indiana.
I
Dont
Care.

so much for Obama’s center.
It would not surprise me if many of these stores closed for good. Stores of any kind in black areas tend to be a marginal proposition. Shoplifting and vandalism are through the roof, and that’s just the employees. Throw in the even more felonious customers, and it’s one headache after another. All of this to barely break even.
Most of these looted stores probably opened when their surrounding areas were lily-white. Whether insurance covered a significant portion of their losses or this was a total loss for the owners, the odds are that they will cut bait. In riot-torn LA, 50% of the Korean-owned stores shut down permanently, despite the English-challenged owners having few alternatives, in addition to being inured to all the crap they have to put up with, by operating in a black area.
And you will soon the women on television with their hands out crying their six babies don’t have any food and we are obligated to take care of them.
Years ago we visited in-laws who were working in Russia. The kids, MIL and I all went with SIL on the tram to the supermarket on the edge of St. Petersburg.
She wanted us to go with her to help carry all the goods home. She would only go to the supermarket when she had help. Except for MIL we were all a lot younger and it still wore SIL out.
And then, when we all got back to their flat, had to either lug it all up 7 flights of stairs or ride up 2 or 3 at a time in this rickety elevator that felt like an accident waiting to happen.
So, yes, for those peeps, especially the elderly to lose their neighborhood grocery is a hardship many of us struggle to imagine.
I’ve ordered a few things from Target in the past, so they have my email address. Received a total bulls—t email from them today about how woke they are and all that they’re doing to support BLM etc. Not a single word about the looting they suffered nor any a single word of thanks to law enforcement, employees, security personnel and even citizen volunteers who protected some of their stores from looting. Absolutely disgusting.
What’s my point? Companies like Target are annoying. After all this looting, they’ll quietly shutter stores in heavily black neighborhoods and avoid opening news stores in such ‘hoods, but they’ll never admit why. They’ll never tell the truth about the looters who robbed them blind. Target will quietly go about their business while loudly proclaiming their wokeness and making all the right donations to BLM-style causes as a smokescreen.
But it's only property. /sarc
Where is Michelle Obama complaining about food deserts?
ZFG
Cry me a river.
Stupid is as stupid does.
If the people in those areas wanted to keep their grocery stores, the civilized residents of those areas should have protected them and quelled the riots themselves. If the politicians won’t let the police do it, it’s up to the citizens.
so where are all these concerned activists that claim black lives matter? why aren’t they offering free rides to these ‘generationally disadvantaged’ folks so they can get meds and groceries?
I guess if something takes more effort than walking down a street yelling, it’s not worth doing?
