...Some of the stories told by local residents offer a personal perspective and make you realize precisely what these neighborhoods have lost. Plenty of people there dont own their own cars and if youve ever tried to take a bus to go grocery shopping, you know what a nightmare that is. These are low-income neighborhoods and not everyone can afford to summon a taxi or an Uber (assuming you can even get one to come to make a pickup). Some people are already waking dozens of city blocks to purchase only as many groceries as they can carry by hand.
This is what came of the protesting that was, at least in these neighborhoods, little more than a thinly disguised excuse to loot every business, smash every window and engage in anarchy while literally setting the world on fire. And what did it get them? As one resident interviewed for this report sadly noted, theyve managed to further drive down their property values and embarrass themselves....

Keep on peeing into the wind, leftists.
I think she’s complaining about dessert.
you've met him too??
I think their plan is backfiring. Trumps approval rating among blacks surged to 40% in todays (June 5) Rasmussen Daily opinion poll. Agree, but the 10% ‘tax’ would have to be at all stores, for the same reason you note (they cannot charge based on their local cost to operate), and the extra cost of inner city operations will likely require a lot more than 10%. We’re now at the point where gangs simply walk in, take what they want, and leave...knowing that no one will challenge them.
Mayor Pete, what a joke. In many places Gary looks like Detroit. 20 and 30 block areas with not one single standing structure.
“There are no real stores in Gary”

there’s a couple of ALDI’s and a couple of Save-A-Lots in addition to to some local grocery stores ..
I call BS. How could mostly peaceful protests have wrecked so much destruction? Somebody is lying....
Let the mayors/governors/cops suffer for allowing it to happen...many of those being harmed were not “protesters” and many who did the damage aren’t living in it.
On the outskirts? Like Miller or Glen Park? I had to take my Dad to the Lake County Office in Downtown - 6th and Broadway - there was nothing. It looked like a war zone. Black Oak doesn’t count.
