How did he know this? Because of research done by the National Institutes of Health, of which he is the director. In connection with the SARS outbreak – caused by a coronavirus dubbed SARS- CoV – the NIH researched chloroquine and concluded that it was effective at stopping the SARS coronavirus in its tracks. The COVID-19 bug is likewise a coronavirus, labeled SARS-CoV-2. While not exactly the same virus as SARS-CoV-1, it is genetically related to it, and shares 79% of its genome, as the name SARS-CoV-2 implies. They both use the same host cell receptor, which is what viruses use to gain entry to the cell and infect the victim.

While it is not true that he is the Director of NIH, he has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. which is a subset of the larger agency, NIH.

You are getting the argument wrong. There is nearly universal agreement that HCQ is a covid inhibitor. The issue of concern that has caused the backlash is the safety for individuals with pre-existing heart problems.
That’s a BS argument. A slight arrhythmia is not that serious in the vast majority of cases. However, that is why you should seek a doctor to make the determination. In fact, you can only get it with a doctor’s prescription. But the argument really is that Fauci says it is only anecdotal, but this study dispels that argument.
Now that this is known. Trump needs to let him go.
Otherwise he’s propping up someone that clearly shouldn’t be where he is. Defending the indefensible.
