This lockdown was senseless in every conceivable way. It was totally unnecessary, wouldn't have helped had it been, and completely unworkable regardless. Time to end it now and make sure nothing like this ever happens again.
It has accomplished one thing. The left as energized against Trump over this. These people are upset we’re not fearbros!
Its easier to fool a man than it is to convince him hes been fooled.
WE
HAVE
BEEN
HAD
I’m saying that maybe the original goal of “flattening the curve” and not overloading hospitals was actually genuine. Most Americans (not all, but a majority) said, ok, we can do this for two weeks, let’s pull together, yadda yadda. After that, it became a pissing contest of virtue signalling and hard left politics. “Hey, the last ten attempts to take out PDJT failed, but what if everybody’s life savings is wiped out?”. Dems salivated. The rest is history.
It has also hurt the liberal agenda by loosening the education establishment's grip on our young people, shuttering seminaries for left-wing activism, aka colleges, putting the "LGBQ" and "transgender" agenda on the back burner and forcing hte cancellation of events such as "gay pride" parades and the Dore Alley and Folsom street fairs.
The medicine has been even worse than the disease. Got a note from my credit union they opened their lobby after six weeks. Went there yesterday and was stopped at door. Only could go in with appointment. Asked why it said open with nothing about res. Answer was dont have staff back. Seems while they feel unsafe they on unemployment. Together with fed supplement they making more than when working! So they feel unsafe. I was told this by branch manager in confidence. What a country.
As I said Im not sure the lockdown did any of that. For weeks I heard we are just 2 weeks behind italy. I got daily emails from my hospital how were going to handle the overload and God for me triage care. It never happened. Those hospitals in New York that were overloaded are generally chaotic and would be swamped by a bad cold season. Add to that the nursing homes being forces to take covid patients and it turns out they manufactured their own crisis
That said it is unclear the lockdowns changed the course or amount of illness at all. Just because 2 things happened. together does not prove causation. And the areas locked down the hardest have been those hardest hit - so maybe the lockdown causes the spread of disease....
Hospitals were only going to be overloaded in hotspot areas: no need or reason to shutter the whole country.
Au contraire: it did what the dems hoped - it destroyed the roaring Trump economy.
“The goal was to prevent the overloading of hospitals. For the most part, it accomplished that.”

Only at the cost of bankrupting hospitals. Putting doctors and nurses out of work, some of whom are likely to lose businesses. Causing the diagnosis of serious cancers to be delayed so as to further endanger many. Setting back schedules for “elected” surgeries that would have improved the lives of many. Creating financial strains on medical supply businesses that exist only to support the interrupted medical procedures. The list goes on I’m sure.
It wasn't the government that cancelled sporting events and stopped going to restaurants, etc. etc. It was rational people looking to protect themselves and we saw the results with the curve of the disease.
What do you think the curve would look like if we hadn't social distanced and eliminated large gatherings?
As always, the people were way ahead of the government and it will be the people who decide how fast we reopen - not the politicians.
I was merely giving the rational provided by the President.
As another poster said upthread, the virus was an unknown at first. We didn't know how deadly it was. We only knew that it was overwhelming the hospitals in the major cities hit.
20/20 hindsight is wonderful, but the President had to make his decisions in real time. And, given the information he had, I believe he did what was right at the time.
“Instilling fear and cowardice amongst the weak-minded in our society, as well as social conditioning with the goal of obtaining absolute control over every aspect of peoples lives.”
Correct, in hindsight.
If we had known what we know now, it would have been better to lockdown overloaded hospital cities and keep the rest of the country open and isolate the vulnerable.
But that's based on what we now know.
It [the lockdown] was never about the Chinese flu.it was always about getting President Trump out of Office. Ancillary purposes included, seeing how the American public would react to being placed under strict Government control. How would the American public react to having strict restrictions placed on them. How difficult would this be to achieve. Where would the resistance, if any , come Who would rebel and who would comply from. Response by Americans to Americans to Americans being placed in two additional categories: essential and non essential. Plus other objectives known only to the Globalists.
Then those who locked everyone down MUST be punished. They are going to have to pay a price.
Very true. We need to get laws in place preventing elderly unelected bureaucrats from taking over the country, and laws to prevent politically declared health emergencies from being able to completely suppress the Constitution and our Constitutional rights and protections.
I dont know why Trump let him do that. Im sure he knows he did the wrong thing, and nobody wants to talk about it...especially the Dem politicians who did really, really wrong things and will defend them till the day they die.
If anybody can rebuild us it will be Trump, but were not even going to know the full devastation until everything opens up again.
We are living in two countries and two societies.
That said, we know the Democrats have been overtaken by communists so of course they are going to take full advantage of ANY opportunity to further their agenda.
