Brilliant!
:)
Agreed, some time ago Daltry had a show on the History Channel(?) about antique firearms including military ware.
“Do not resent growing old. Many are denied the opportunity.”
That is excellent
At least Keith Moon did
Lately, whenever I see Biden he fades into the parody that Tom Shillue does of him on Gutfeld.
Got to see them during their farewell tour in the U.S. in October 1983. One of the two performances they put on at Shea stadium in New York. Didn’t know until recently, as a result of finding youtube videos of separate respective pre-concert interviews done of Daltrey and Townshend on the same night before the first New York show, how shall we say “less-than-best-friendly” they were back then, how at-his-wits-end Daltrey was about Townshend’s more or less unilateral decision to pack it in with “The Who” and go wherever the wind blew him after that (it was Pete’s band, after all, apparently), and how two bandmates so inseparably associated by the public at large can get to the point of having to maintain total physical and emotional separateness at all times between tour dates (up till minutes before showtime as it turned out in New York that October), to avoid antagonizing each other and potentially negatively affecting the amazing and powerful on-stage performances The Who had always been known for.
As a college kid, I saw them on their 1989 reunion tour. I loved their music and thought it was my one and only chance because they were old. That was over thirty years ago and now Im old...
Bless their hearts.
I read both of their autobiographies, and it’s just clear that they are incredibly different sorts of people.
Daltrey is just a very normal guy. He likes women, in a normal way, and has interests that seem like things any British guy who ended up with a good amount of money would do. Landscaping his property, collecting guns, having cool cars. He’s sort of boring, but seems well-adjusted. A good guy..
Townshend, just the opposite. He’s an artist, but driven by real demons that he’s only just managing to put at rest in his golden years. Clearly brilliant, but someone whose struggles -alcoholism, victim of child abuse, victim of false accusation of committing child abuse, obsessive relationships with women, religious questing, on and on. But he is the one who primarily created the art that was this band, and it’s a band I really value, probably more than any other.
Yeah, Shillue does a great job with Biden and also with Schiff.
I guess it takes all types, as they say! Thanks babble-on—what you passed on helped me understand the two even better.
Saw them at Woodstock . I had just turned 17 . They were my main impetus for going . I was not disappointed .
Bill shat(ner)? Yeah, I can kinda see that.
Do they stutter?
John Entwistle joined him in 2002.
Nice meme. Can you make one of my tagline?
If you close your eyes...
